An apparatus for purifying impure hydrogen fuel is described that includes a first chamber and a second chamber. The first chamber is configured to receive impure hydrogen fuel in the form of a first mixture of gases with hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide at the first concentration while the second chamber is configured to receive a second mixture of gases with hydrogen gas at the second concentration. The apparatus also includes a solid-state electrolyte that separates the first chamber and the second chamber and includes an adsorbing catalyst. The apparatus also includes a pair of electrodes installed each in the first chamber and the second chamber to create a potential difference is created across the solid-state electrolyte.

Method and a device for operating PEM fuel cell with CO contaminated hydrogen gas

The invention relates to a device and process for converting organic waste to biogas with high methane content and improved organic conversion efficiency. Disclosed process consists of two stages and in the first stage, shredded organic waste is digested in primary digester in which biodegradable organic fractions present in waste gets converted to volatile fatty acids and alcohols dissolved in aqueous solution by hydrolytic and acidogenic microorganisms. Primary digester effluent pH, is adjusted to about 6.8-7.5 by addition of controlled alkali solution. Neutralized waste slurry is separated into liquid solution called as leachate and digested solid sludge. In the second stage, liquid leachate comprising volatile fatty acids are converted to biogas with methane content in the range 80-86% by methanogenic microbial culture in main digester under anaerobic conditions. This invention further describes optimized primary and main digester configurations with operating conditions to improve organic conversion efficiency in both the digesters.

The present subject matter pertains to PolyMET plate for a Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cell where the PolyMET plate includes a body made of a polymeric material and comprise a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. Operating an electrolyzer during non-peak hours to produce hydrogen, wherein, a required stoichiometric ratio of the produced hydrogen is transferred into the methanol reactor for methanol synthesis, wherein, a Cu/Zn-based catalyst system is used for methanol synthesis through a direct hydrogenation reaction of CO.

The present invention provides to a process for recovery of an organic compound (i.e. Ethanol, propanol, butanol, Acetone, iso-propyl alcohol) from a fermented broth which is produced from different fermentation technologies. The present invention particularly relates to an integrated process for ethanol separation from the fermentation broth using integrated vapor compressing unit (turbofans), evaporator (falling film) and a broth stripper column (vacuum distillation system). The process is operated under low temperature for the separation and recovery of the organic compound (particularly ethanol) from the fermented broth containing live microbes typically below or at 50&#xb0; C. to ensure the activity of the microbes in the broth recycle. Again, the activity of the microbes is further ensured by maintaining the residence time of the microbe containing broth outside the Fermentor is less than or equal to 10 minutes.

The present invention relates to a synthesis of novel Zn(II)-based Metal Organic Frameworks having mixed organic ligands of 1,3,5-benzene tricarboxylic acid (BTC) and 2-methylimidazole (mIm) through a simple and economic solvothermal method. The synthesized MOFs has cuboids morphology having high surface area (1248 m2/g) capable of hydrogen adsorption at &#x2212;10&#xb0; C. to 25&#xb0; C. temperature and 100 bar pressure. The hydrogen adsorption capabilities of the novel MOFs are in the range of 23-0.2 weight percent.

The present invention provides a process for deep desulphurization of cracked gasoline with minimum octane loss of about 1-2 units. In this process full range cracked gasoline from FCC, Coker, Visbreaker etc is sent to Diolefin Saturation Reactor for selective saturation of diolefins. After saturation of diolefins, the stream is sent to Splitter for splitting into three cuts i.e Light Cut (IBP-70&#xb0; C.), Intermediate Cut (70-90&#xb0; C.) and Heavy Cut (90-210&#xb0; C.). The Light Cut which contains majority of the high octane olefins and mercaptan sulfur is desulfurized with caustic treatment using Continuous Film Contactor (CFC). The sulfur in the Intermediate Cut is also predominantly mercaptans and the cut can be desulfurized by caustic treatment using CFC along with Light cut or separately desulfurized before being sent for isomerization. The Heavy Cut containing mainly thiophinic sulfur compounds is treated either by using conventional HDS process or reactive adsorption process.
