A system and method for marking components of an assembly and/or portions of an assembly including at least one of the components with a plurality of markers, each component and/or portion including its own marker or markers, to be read in an operational sequence so as to generate at least one identifier representative of a characteristic and/or feature of the assembly. Any marker can be a certain type of marker, the combination of which can be used to generate an identifier. A certain type of markerneed not be dedicated to a certain component. Each marker can be associated with a proxy value, which can be obtained by reading the marker with a reader. An identifier of the assembly can then be generated by employing a predetermined sequence of reading the markers.

A fluid-ejection assembly includes a die, a substrate, ribs, and adhesive. The die has nozzles through which fluid is ejected. The substrate provides the fluid to the die. The ribs are within the substrate, and have rounded corners. The rounded corners are adapted to provide a predetermined characteristic. The adhesive affixes the die to the substrate.

An inkjet printhead includes a die having a heating element formed thereon. The inkjet printhead also includes a graded die carrier. The graded die carrier is coupled to the die. The graded die carrier has lands that are separated by an ink slot. Each of the lands is graded such that its proximity to the die varies.

In one embodiment, a printing device includes: a print engine configured to apply marking material to print media; a laser writer configured to expose the print media to a laser beam of sufficient energy to change the reflectivity of exposed portions of the print media; a media path along which the print engine may apply marking material to print media in a macro printing zone and along which the print media may be exposed to a beam of light emitted by the laser writer in a micro printing zone; and an electronic controller operatively connected to the print engine for selectively applying marking material to the print media and to the laser writer for selectively exposing the print media to a laser beam.

A fluid ejection cartridge includes a body, having fluid passageways at a first spacing, a die, having fluid passage-ways at a second closer spacing, and an interposer, bonded to the body at a first surface and plasma bonded to the die at a second surface. A method of forming one or more micro-displays includes forming a first portion of a seal ring overlying a device substrate and surrounding one or more device chips formed on the device substrate, forming a second portion of the seal ring overlying a transparent cover, forming a first layer overlying the transparent cover, plasma bonding the first layer to a second layer formed overlying the device substrate and the one or more device chips, and fusing the first and second portions of the seal ring together using a beam of electromagnetic radiation.
