Sutureless, implantable fluid shunting devices and associated methods for controlling the pressure of fluids within anatomical spaces or cavities of the body. The device generally comprises a tube having a diffusion barrier (e.g., diffusion chamber) formed on a proximal end thereof. Fluid which flows through the tube will collect within the diffusion chamber and will diffuse outwardly therethrough. However, the presence of the diffusion chamber will prevent microbes, cells or other matter from interfering with or backflowing through the tube. Additionally, the tube may be provided with a pressure-openable aperture through which fluid from the tube may flow into the diffusion chamber. Such pressure-openable aperture will remain closed, until the pressure of fluid within the tube exceeds a predetermined maximum pressure P. In this manner, the pressure-openable aperture will limit the amount of fluid drained from the anatomical space or cavity of the body, thereby avoiding hypotony within such anatomical space or cavity. The diffusion barrier of the device is preferably configured to fit between, and to be engaged by, adjacent recti muscles of the eye. Such engagement of the diffusion barrier with the adjacent recti muscles serves to prevent unwanted migration or post-implantation movement of the device, without the need for suturing of the device to the tissue of the eye.

Sutureless implantable device and method for treatment of glaucoma

Corneal implant and method of manufacture

A bio-compatible corneal ring for myopic correction and accommodation for presbyopia. The corneal ring is made from a bio-compatible material with a lens body having an inner and outer circular edge. The inner circular edge forms an opening in the lens body. The posterior surface of the lens body has a uniform radii of curvature between the inner and outer circular edges. The anterior surface has two radii of curvatures providing for correction of myopia. The first radii of curvature extends from near the outer circular edge to a junction point before the inner circular edge. The second radii of curvature extends from the junction point and continues to the inner circular edge. The inner and outer circular edges have a thickness of less than about 0.020 mm, but preferably are about 0.010 mm or less.

This invention is a device for inserting a flexible intraocular lens ( ) into an eye comprising a tubular member ( ) and a plunger ( ). The tubular member includes a staging area ( ), a lumen, and an open distal end ( ). The staging area supports unstressed state prior to engagement by the plunger. In the unstressed state, the optic ( ) of the lens is suspended in a pocket to avoid any substantial contact with interior portions of the tubular member. The plunger includes a slot ( ) in its distal tip fo receiving and gripping the lens. With this construction, the lens can be inserted into the eye in one continuous motion. Further, the plunger holds the lens when the lens is moved out of the tubular member.
