The subject application is directed to a system and method for controlling a document processing device via a remote device interface. Display data is generated corresponding to the control of the document processing device, following which instructions are received from a user corresponding to one or more document processing operations. An image is then generated on a display integrated in the document processing device based on the display data and the received instructions. The display data is then communicated, via an established data connection, to an associated data processing device having both a user data input and a user display. Control instructions for the document processing device are then received from the associated data processing device so as to allow for user control of a document processing operation and a document processing operation is commenced based on instructions received from the data processing device.

System and method for control of document processing devices via a remote device interface

The subject application is directed to a system and method for location-based document output scheduling. At least one electronic document is first received into an associated data storage. A map is generated on an associated display, which map includes indicia corresponding to alternative facility locations associated with a selected event. The map also includes indicia corresponding to locations of alternative document rendering devices corresponding to the facility. Device selection data is received from an associated user of at least one document rendering device selected from the alternative document rendering devices as well as temporal data corresponding to a time of the selected event. Operation of each selected document rendering device is commenced so as to render the at least one electronic document at a timing corresponding to the temporal data.

The subject application is directed to a document processing device and associated method for generating an informational display on a document processing device. The method includes receiving preselected media content and displaying the preselected media content on a display of the document processing device. The method further includes receiving user identification data and retrieving user-specified media content preference data identifying a user-specified media content preferred by a user associated with the user identification data. The method also includes displaying the user-specified media content on the display of the document processing device in response to receipt of a request to complete a document processing operation using the document processing device.

System and method for generating an informational media display on a document processing device

The subject application is directed to a document processing device user interface system and method having functional controls specified by device attribute querying. A plurality of components associated with a document processing device is queried, and device information data corresponding to operational characteristics of each component is received in accordance with the query. Device operation data corresponding to a selected document processing operation is then received via an associated user interface and is compared relative to the device operation data. Indicia is generated on the user interface display corresponding to controls of a subset of the components based upon the comparison output. Secondary selection data corresponding to selected indicia on the display is received, and the selected document processing operation is commenced in accordance with the received secondary selection data.

The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating an informational media display on a document processing device. A document processing signal representing the status of a document processing operation on an associated document processing device is first received. Media content data and preference data corresponding to user-specified media content data is then received. Pre-selected media content data is then generated on a display of a user interface associated with the document processing device when the device is idle, as determined by the document processing status signal. Display of the pre-selected media content is then suspended when the document processing signal indicates that the document processing device is active. User-specified media data content is then generated on the display of the user interface when the received document processing signal corresponds to active status of the associated document processing device.

Primitive data is stored in associated memory corresponding to graphical user interface primitives. Each primitive corresponds to a display or a control of an associated document processing device. The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating a customized workflow user interface. Predetermined graphical user interface elements are first stored in an associated data storage. The graphical user interface elements are then generated on an associated display. Each graphical user interface element is then associated with an abstraction interface. Selection data is then received corresponding to selected graphical user interface elements. User interface data is thereafter generated in accordance with the selection data and the associated abstraction interface. Workflow data is subsequently output representing document processing operations corresponding to the selected graphical user interface elements. The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating a composite source user interface. A text query corresponding to a text element associated with a graphical element on a display of the associated user interface is first received by a backend component. The received text query data is then directed to a data document on the associated data storage. Text data is then received from the data document of the associated data storage. Thereafter, the received text data is then communicated to the associated user interface so as to generate indicia on the associated user interface. Preferably, the indicia includes a graphical element and the text data, such as, for example and without limitation, an icon and associated text, or the like.

The subject application is directed to a system and method for the content retrieval and routing via a document processing device. The document processing device first receives output routing data from an associated user corresponding to a desired destination for retrieved content. The device then receives a content query from the user corresponding to desired content data available from an external source. The query is then routed to the external source and content data in response to the query is retrieved by the document processing device. The content data is then routed from the document processing device to the designated output destination. The document processing device then periodically monitors for changes to the content data at the external source and when any changes are detected, updated content data is retrieved and forwarded to the output destination.

The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating a dynamic composite source user interface. Text data is received into a data document stored in associated memory. Data representing each of a plurality of graphical elements that correspond to the received text data is then received. A visual indicator, corresponding to each of the graphical elements, is generated on an associated display. Selection data representing a selection of one of the graphical elements on the associated display is then received. Pointer data is then associated with the selected graphical element. The pointer data is further associated with the text data. Next, the selected graphical element is then displayed on the associated display in conjunction with the text data, as referenced by the pointer data.

System and method for XML based data driven generation of a composite source user interface

The subject invention is directed to a system and method for submitting a series of complementary queries to a selected database in order to retrieve data associated with such queries. The method begins by receiving parameter data representing at least one parameter, which defines a plurality of entries in an associated database. Query data is then generated from the parameter data. The query data is comprised of a series of complementary queries structured to aggregate so as to correspond to all possible entries associated with the parameter data. The query data is then communicated to an associated search engine coupled to query the associated database. Result data is then received from the associated search engine. The result data is comprised of a series of responses corresponding to each of the series of complementary queries. The result data is then communicated to an associated user.

System and method for persistent query information retrieval

A system and method which efficiently manages the status of resources or services in a document processing system or device and uses a priority-based dynamic allocation process for allocating or releasing selected resources for a user or task. A job resource manager receives resource requests containing a resource name, quantity and order of use. The resource manager then determines if the request meets predetermined parameters, so as to lock the designated resource for use by the job with which the request is associated. The resource is then released for use by the job and remains inaccessible to other jobs until unlocked. The resource is unlocked by the job resource manager upon receipt of notification that the job has been completed.
