Compositions which can be stored under anhydrous conditions but when exposed to moisture crosslink at room temperature to form elastomers, comprising a diorganopolysiloxane having terminal condensable groups, a silicon compound containing at least three hydrolyzable groups per molecule which are bonded to silicon, and an alkylenediamine in which at least one hydrogen atom that is bonded to a nitrogen atom of the alkylenediamine is substituted with a polyalkylene oxide.

Organopolysiloxane compositions and elastomers formed therefrom

Compositions which are stable when stored under anhydrous conditions, but when exposed to atmospheric moisture cross-link to form elastomers comprising (1) an organopolysiloxane having terminal condensable groups, (2) a silicon compound having at least 3 Si-bonded hydrolyzable groups per molecule and (3) from 30 to 100 percent by weight, based on the weight of the organopolysiloxane (1), of a powder obtained from the homopolymerization or copolymerization of an acrylonitrile in an aqueous medium.

A process for improving the adhesion of an organopolysiloxane elastomer to a substrate which comprises (1) coating the substrate with a copolymer containing (a) 2-hydroxypropyl acrylate and/or 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate and (b) at least one olefinically unsaturated monomer, (2) applying a room temperature vulcanizable organopolysiloxane composition to the coated substrate and thereafter (3) curing the organopolysiloxane composition.

Adhesion of organopolysiloxane elastomers to substrates

An improved process for preparing compositions capable of being converted into elastomers containing (A) triorganosiloxy-terminated diorganopolysiloxanes having at least one vinyl group in each terminal unit, (B) triorganosiloxy-terminated organopolysiloxanes containing organohydrogensiloxane units and diorganosiloxane units, (C) fillers which are hydrophobic or are capable of being rendered hydrophobic and having a surface area of at least 50 m.sup.2 /g and (D) catalysts which promote the addition of SiH groups to vinyl groups which comprises mixing organopolysiloxanes (B) containing organohydrogensiloxane (SiH) units with at least 75 percent by weight of the fillers (C) having a surface area of at least 50 m.sup.2 /g before mixing with the organopolysiloxanes (A) having triorganosiloxy-terminal units with at least one vinyl group in each terminal unit.
