A method for operating an energy storage device with at least one first and at least one second energy storage element in a motor vehicle, wherein the first and the second energy storage elements are connected in series to provide a nominal voltage of the energy storage device, wherein when a charging condition indicated for charging an energy storage device by a motor vehicle-independent energy source as fulfilled, the first and the second energy storage elements are connected in parallel to the motor vehicle-independent energy source, wherein a charging voltage is provided by the motor vehicle-independent energy source for charging the energy storage device, which is lower than the nominal voltage of the energy storage device with a connection in series of the first and of the second energy storage element.

A motor vehicle has an electrochemical cell, which includes an electrode stack of at least two electrodes in a parallel arrangement. The electrochemical cell is arranged outside an engine compartment of the motor vehicle in an accommodation compartment of the motor vehicle, the cross-sectional surface of which is tapered in the direction of the vertical axis of the vehicle. A cross-sectional surface of the electrochemical cell is thereby adapted to the cross-sectional surface of the accommodation compartment. Thus, particularly good use is made of the available space in the motor vehicle.

A motor vehicle has at least one drive unit for generating a drive torque, and has an accelerator pedal which is acted on with a restoring force and which can be adjusted by an actuating travel in order to predefine a setpoint torque. The motor vehicle also has a control device which actuates the drive unit on the basis of the setpoint torque. The control device additionally determines a presently available drive torque, and as a function of the presently available drive torque, varies the characteristic curve of the accelerator pedal, which expresses the restoring force versus the actuating travel of the accelerator pedal.
