A support machine is provided for a ladle in a continuous casting. A rotatable column is positioned on a bearing on a foundation base. A ladle support arm is pivoted around a horizontal axis, includes a yoke surrounding the rotatable column and has a U-shaped planar projection, and two lever legs running about in parallel and each extending an end of the yoke. A ladle support is disposed near an end of each lever leg. A support provision for each lever leg is disposed between the ladle support and the yoke for supporting the lever leg on the side of the column disposed toward the corresponding ladle. A position adjustment provision is attached to the column, is disposed at the side of the column opposite to the corresponding support provisions and engages the yoke. A ladle support is disposed near the free end of the support arm and can be pivoted around a horizontal axis provided by a hinge mechanism. An inclination measurement sensor is disposed at the ladle support of the ladle support arm. A control provision is connected to the inclination measurement sensor and a setting provision for the ladle support fed from the sensor maintains the ladle support in a desired position.

Additional intermediate narrow side walls are provided between narrow side walls at an apparatus for continuous casting of metals for casting as desired of metal bars with slab boom cross-section or of at least two metal bars of smaller cross-section, where a plate mold is employed, which is provided with a water tank supporting the narrow side walls and the wide side walls. In order to use best the cross-sectional area available for the forming of a slab bloom and in order to maintain acceptable and favorable viewing conditions immediately below the mold, the copper plates of the wide side walls between the end side narrow side walls are in each case subdivided by at least one recess in the longitudinal direction of the advancing metal bar in order to be able to cast at least two bars concurrently. The additional intermediate narrow side walls are inserted opposite to the narrow side walls into the recesses and the intermediate narrow side walls are in each case supported at the support constructions of the copper plates of the wide side walls disposed in the recesses.

Apparatus for continuous casting of bars of different sizes

A checking and aligning stand for measuring and aligning structure sections of the strand guide of a continuous casting plant includes measuring surfaces to determine the mounting position of the structure section. In order to be able to effect a quick check of the mounting position of curved structure sections of a bow-type continuous casting plant without impeding the casting operation during this adjustment work, at least two pairs of measuring surfaces arranged at an angle to each other, preferably at 90.degree., to determine the roller-way coordinates relative to the position-defining supporting surfaces of the structure section are provided on the checking stand.

Checking and aligning stand to be used in a continuous casting plant

There is disclosed a continuous casting machine for selectively casting a strand having slab cross section or at least two strands having smaller cross sections. It includes a plate mold surrounded by a support frame supporting the end walls and side walls, and further intermediate end walls provided between the end walls for casting at least two strands. In order to provide end walls that are insertable into the mold and positively connectable thereto with parts that project into the mold used for slab cross sectional formats being avoided, a hollow body carrying copper plates of the intermediate end walls is inserted between the copper plates of the side walls. A coolant flows through the hollow body, which is supported with its upper end on the side walls by supporting elements overlapping the side walls, and with its lower end is fixed by coolant supply and discharge piping. The coolant supply and discharge piping project from the support frame as far as into the hollow body, and extend transversely to the side walls and below the same. Each pipe is displaceable from the operating position projecting into the hollow body into a resting position releasing the hollow body. In a method of starting a continuous casting plant the intermediate end walls are removed from the mold prior to the onset of casting. A starter bar serving for strands having slab cross sections and including at least two starter bar heads is threaded through the mold from above into a strand guide arranged below the mold. Thereupon the intermediate end walls are inserted into the mold and fixed thereto.

Continuous casting plant

A lifting platform is hinged via oscillating cranks forming a four rod linkage mechanism to a spacially fixed support frame at a continuous casting apparatus with a mold having a curved metal bar axis and disposed at the oscillating lifting platform and the lifting platform forms the connecting rod of this four rod linkage mechanism. In order to avoid the generation of cracks in the metal bar at the transition from the oscillating guide track for the metal bar to the spacially fixed guiding of the bar and in order to be able to adapt the oscillating cranks to close quarters, the longitudinal axes of the oscillating cranks intersect at a point while the mold is in middle position, which point is disposed on a straight line connecting the center of curvature of the guide track of the metal bar to the lower end of the oscillating support surface supporting the metal bar. The oscillating cranks are of differing lengths.

Apparatus and method for continuous casting

In a continuous casting plant including a reciprocating lifting table, the mould is accommodated by this lifting table. Following upon the mould, a strand guide section, in particular designed as a bending device, is arranged. In order to permanently ensure the correct adjustment of the mould relative to the strand guide section following upon the mould, with a quick exchange of the mould being still feasible, the mould is guided on the strand guide section following thereupon and the lifting table is aligned and guided via the mould.

An arrangement for measuring two oppositely arranged rollerways of a continuous casting plant comprises a measuring body movable through the section between the rollerways. The measuring body has opposite contact surfaces contacting the surface areas of the rollers and formed by elastically deformable spring strips. They are pressable to the surface areas of the rollers by pressure means arranged between them. In order to be able to measure rollerways with which the roller distance of the oppositely located rollers is exactly accurate, yet individual or several roller pairs are arranged offset relative to other roller pairs, at least on one of the spring strips a distance-alteration measuring means is provided, substantially extending in the moving direction of the arrangement.

An arrangement for measuring the distance of two oppositely arranged roller ways of a continuous casting plant comprises a measuring body capable of being pulled or pushed through the section between the roller ways. The measuring body has oppositely arranged contact surfaces touching the surface areas of the rollers, the distance-measuring device being fastened within the measuring body. In order to be able to determine the distance of the rollers with the greatest accuracy possible also with rollers that are not arranged opposite each other, the contact surfaces of the measuring body are comprised of elastically deformable spring steel strips whose longitudinal extension is larger than the axial distance of three neighbouring rollers of one of the roller ways. The spring steel strips are pressable towards the surface areas of the rollers by pressure units arranged between them and the distance-measuring device contacts the inner side of one of the spring steel strips.

Arrangement to be used in a continuous casting plant

A strand guide arrangement to be used in a continuous casting plant has a frame displaceable by an adjustment drive, on which frame supporting elements are mounted which are adjustable to one side face of the strand. The frame is detachably fastened to a displacement ruler and is removable vertically upwardly after release of the fastening and retraction of the displacement ruler. The frame is connectable with the displacement ruler by a projection mounted on the frame or on the displacement ruler and insertable into a corresponding recess in the displacement ruler or in the frame, respectively.

Strand guiding means for guiding a strand in a continuous casting plant

An arrangement at a continuous casting plant includes a liftable and lowerable tundish mounted on a movable carrier and a tilting device mounted on a tilting stand for emptying of the tundish. The tilting device includes a tilting beam rotatable about its longitudinal axis and the tundish possesses recesses at its lower side, corresponding to the cross section of the tilting beam. Thus the tundish is lowerable at the tilting stand so its recesses make a positive connection with the tilting beam.

Arrangement at a continuous casting plant

A mould arrangement for continuous casting plants has a mould with side walls adjustable to various strand sizes, supporting devices below the mould for guiding the emerging strand, and holding devices releasable from above for securing the supporting devices to the mould. The supporting devices are arranged in hollow spaces extending through the mould side walls to the upper side thereof.

Mould arrangement to be used in a continuous casting plant

A driving roll stand, in particular to be used in a continuous casting plant, has a pair of rolls, at least one of the rolls being mounted in a rocker; the rocker is pivotably hinged to a stationary stand with one bearing on each roller-end side, and a displacement means for each bearing for displacing the bearing in the pivot plane of the rocker is provided.

An arcuate supporting and guiding construction for continuously cast strands, in particular slabs, has a framework comprised of at least two framework parts, sets of inner and outer arcuate longitudinal carriers positioned within the framework and accommodating rollers to form roller paths supporting the strand at two opposite sides thereof, and a plurality of spaced drawing anchors arranged at right angles to the roller paths to connect the oppositely arranged framework parts, wherein the drawing anchors can be brought into and out of a connection position and detached and removed from one of the framework parts.

Arcuate supporting and guiding construction for continuously cast strands

A ladle-rotating turret arrangement to be used in a continuous casting plant has a concrete base block with a hole through it, a central column inserted in the hole with play, carrier arms provided on the column, and two annular discs arranged at the hole at a distance from each other. At least one of the two annular discs is movable relative to the other one approximately perpendicularly to the central column and is fixable relative to the concrete base block. Annular ledges on the central column have spherical faces that rest on the two annular discs.
