A cable-processing machine includes a swiveling device with a swiveling arm and a gripper for moving cable-ends to and from processing stations. A belt-drive advances a cable supplied from a reel or drum to a cutting and stripping station where the leading and the trailing cable-ends are cut from the cable and stripped to form a cable-length. After the leading cable-end has been processed, the cable-length is laid on a continuously driven cable transportation belt and the trailing cable-end is processed. After processing, the cable-length is laid in a cable tray.

A device is suggested for processing cable-shaped conductors, particularly multicore cables, having at least one transport means () having a drive means () for transport supply and/or for lengthwise transport of cable-shaped conductor material (), a cutting means () for cutting through cable-shaped conductor material, at least one first means () for processing the cut, cable-shaped conductor material, at least one guide means () for lengthwise guiding of the cable-shaped conductor material, the guide means () being implemented so that the free end of the cable-shaped conductor material may be pivoted out of its lengthwise direction, and at least one plate (), implemented essentially perpendicularly to the cable direction, on which at least some of the means () of the device are positioned on one side. The plate () has at least one first pivotable plate part (), which is pivotably positioned around an axis essentially parallel to the plate plane between two end positions using a first pivot angle, at least one of the transport means () cited and a guide means () being located on the plate part (). At least one second means () is provided for processing the cable-shaped conductor material, which is arranged in a state of the first pivotable plate part () pivoted out of the plane of the plate () or may be arranged replaceably.

Method and device for processing cables

Insulation removal equipment for exposing conductors of a flat cable, having a vacuum table, a table drive, a milling tool drive and an advancing drive which is arranged on a carriage and which moves the milling tool drive together with the milling tool on the carriage. The carriage is guided by guide rails arranged at a housing table. The housing table is carried by a housing, at which the table drive is also arranged. The advancing drive moves via a pinion along a rack arranged at the housing and executes the movement of the carriage. The height-adjustable vacuum table is controlled in dependence on the advancing drive and in dependence on the direction of a conductor to be exposed.

A finishing installation for cables includes a cable unit, a cable feeder and finishing units. The leading cable end is seized by a loop-laying device and turned horizontally through 180&deg;. At the same time, the cable is advanced by a cable-advancing device and straightened by the straightening path. An encoder measures the length of the advanced cable, while a cable loop is formed during the advancing of the cable. For the taking-over, feeding and delivery of cable ends, the cable feeder has a first transfer unit, which is displaceable along a transfer guide, with a first gripper unit and a second transfer unit, which is displaceable along the transfer guide, with a second gripper unit. Control equipment controls and monitors the finishing installation, wherein the movements of, in particular, the transfer equipment and the gripper units are freely programmable.

Equipment for the linear feeding of cable ends to finishing units

A crimping apparatus including a crimping station having a crimping press and at least one set of crimping tools. Each crimping tool includes a wire ram, an insulation ram, an anvil unit and a separating unit. The wire ram and the insulation ram of each crimping tool are associated with a ram holder and each of the ram holders includes crimping height-adjustment means. Crimping pressure-measuring elements that are connected to a control unit are included between the crimping press and the ram holders. During a crimping process a crimping force as determined by the crimping pressure-measuring elements is compared with a preset nominal value range. When the determined crimping force is outside of the range, a corresponding correction signal is produced in the control unit, thereby effecting a corresponding correction of the crimping height-adjustment means.

Crimping apparatus

This cable conveying unit serves for the precise feeding of a given length of a cable into a cable processing station between at least two conveying rollers or bands driven in counterrotation and capable of being placed against the outside of such a cable. For this purpose the two conveying rollers or bands disposed on either side of the cable passing through and each associated with a drive unit are driven, mechanically separated from one another in terms of drive, by a respective speed-controlled electric motor.

A cable depositing device for processing a plurality of cables includes at least one receiving transport band having a length and an entry end, a partition that extends above the upper driving strand of the receiving transport band along the length of the receiving transport band, and a swivel arm. The receiving transport band defines a cable entry region and includes an upper driving strand. The upper driving strand and the partition define two receiving and stretching regions on either side of the partition. The swivel arm is disposed in the cable entry region, defines a swivelling-out range and includes a cable gripper.

Cable depositing device

The conductor end to be worked is clamped behind the conductor end section (5) to be stripped and is held in its axial position. Subsequently a scanning arrangement displaceable relative to the free end in longitudinal direction of the conductor end section (5) is used to determine the free end of this conductor end section (5), then the cutting knives (12, 13) are advanced into cutting contact with the conductor end section (5) by a distance (x) corresponding to the severing and/or insulation stripping length previously determined from the end position, and after cutting off the requested layer by means of cutting knives (12, 13) the latter are used to push the cut-off layer towards the end, and this cut-off and/or insulation stripping process can be repeated once or several times with graduated cutting depths, if need be.

Appliance for cutting-off and/or stripping insulation

At least two transporting and take-off rollers (2, 2') interact for the gripping of a cable (1) to be transported. The axes of rotation (3, 3') of the transporting and take-off rollers are each rotatably arranged on a cantilever arm (7, 7') capable of swivelling together about a second turning axis (6) arranged on a turning platform (10) and running perpendicular to the former axis and parallel to a common straight line (5) connecting the said two rollers (2, 2'). At least one of the two transporting and take-off rollers (2, 2') is arranged laterally adjustable in relation to its distance (a) from the second transporting and take-off roller (7). Further, first drive devices (25) connected so that they can swivel together with the turning platform (10), are provided for driving the two transporting and take-off rollers (2, 2'). Second drive devices (16) drive-connected to the turning platform (10) are provided for obtaining a precisely defined rotational movement of the turning platform (10) about the first turning axis (4).

Process for cutting off a section of sheathing

The invention method and device for the automatic mounting of connector shells (5) and electric conductors (8) discloses that connector shells (5) are put on with the aid of an industrial robot (1) onto the contact parts (8.1, 8.2) of an electric conductor (8). A gripper tool (4) of the industrial robot (1) is capable to grip simultaneously several connector shells (5). Each contact part (8.1, 8.2) of the electric conductor (8) is maintained in rest position by two independently controllable gripper pairs (11.1, 11.2) of a double gripper (11) at the end of a cable-processing line (9), after a centering module (19) has set the desired position of the contact parts (8.1, 8.2). Depending on the intended device, the two contact parts (8.1, 8.2) of the electric conductor (8) can be simultaneously equipped with connector shells (5) by respectively one industrial robot (1), or successively by only one single industrial robot (1), with the aid of a transfer module (10), coordinated to the double gripper (11) and rotating the rotatable electric conductor (8). The error-free put-on of the connector shells, as well as a withdrawal motion required for the testing of the perfect contact seat, are surveyed by sensors. The finished, plugged-together cable harnesses (13) are for example transferred by two industrial robots (1), in a stretched state, individually, to a transport device (14) adapted to the length of the cable harness (13).
