The crimping cassette includes the crimping tool having cooperating stationary and movable tool parts for crimping and a holding device that attaches to the mounting part fixed to the stationary tool part and has a position allowing a spatially-limited adjustment movement of the stationary tool part. The method includes releasing the tensioning device; inserting the stationary tool part into a tensioning device area; moving the moveable tool part towards the stationary tool part slightly before it touches the stationary tool part; moving the moveable tool part towards the stationary tool part until a pressing force between the tool parts is reached or exceeded and an alignment occurs between the tool parts; and applying tension with the tensioning device.

Aligning method for cable processing apparatus

A crimping cassette for a crimping device of a cable processing apparatus includes a crimping tool having stationary and movable tool parts configured to act together in a crimping operation of the crimping device. The crimping cassette further includes a holding device having at least two claws for attaching to a mounting part in a mounting area of the claws, the mounting part being directly or indirectly fixed to the stationary tool part. The holding device has a locked closed position in which the claws are firmly clamped to the mounting part; an unlocked closed position in which the claws loosely grip the mounting part for allowing an adjustment movement of the stationary tool part within a spatially limited adjustment range; and an open position in which the claws release the mounting part such that the stationary tool part is separable from the holding device.

Crimp tooling includes an anvil and a wire crimper. The anvil includes a base and a tip with a cradle at the tip for supporting a terminal. The anvil has first and second anvil guide surfaces located relative to the cradle. The wire crimper has first and second legs on opposite sides of a crimp slot that receives the cradle and the terminal supported by the cradle. The wire crimper defines a crimp profile in the crimp slot configured to form the terminal during crimping. The first and second legs have first and second wire crimper guide surfaces, respectively. The first and second wire crimper guide surfaces are configured to engage the first and second anvil guide surfaces, respectively, to guide a position of the wire crimper relative to the anvil.

A cable processing apparatus includes a trimming and insulation stripping unit with cutting blades for severing the cable, first insulation-stripping blades for stripping insulation from a rear end of the severed cable piece, and second insulation-stripping blades for stripping insulation from a front end of the remainder of the cable, and a crimping press with a first crimping tool for connecting the rear end of the trimmed cable piece to a first crimp contact and with a second crimping tool for connecting the front end of the remainder of the cable to a second crimp contact. A lifting element formed by a carriage and displaceably mounted on a machine housing of the cable processing apparatus operate both the trimming and insulation-stripping unit and the first and second crimping tools. The lifting element is moved up and down by an eccentric shaft driven by a motor.

Cable processing apparatus for trimming, stripping insulation from and fitting crimp contacts to a cable

In a processing device the wire-ends are fed circularly to the peripherally arranged processing units. A loop-layer grasps a leading wire-end and lays it in a wire-loop. The wire is then advanced by a belt apparatus, and a loop-guide picks up a loop-end and moves upward until the wire-loop has attained the desired dimension and transfers the loop-end of the wire-loop to a holding element of a rotary star, which, by means of the loop-guide, is displaceable along a linear axle, depending on the length of the wire-loop.

Feeding wire-ends to processing units

In a wire-processing machine, by a linear movement away from a first holding unit, a gripper applies to a gripping unit a pull-out force in the longitudinal axis of the wire. The pull-out force that is exerted on the wire is measured by, for example, a force sensor that is arranged on the holding unit or by the motor current of the motor that causes the linear movement. The gripper and the gripping unit together make measurement of the pull-out force possible also for medium-sized and large wires without the gripper needing to be constructed stronger, or its dimensions, or the gripper-arm drive, needing to be changed.

Wire-processing device and method of operating such a wire-processing device

A crimp press has a positioning unit for lowering a grip arm supplying a cable end to a crimp device. The positioning unit is arranged on a handle firmly connected with a tool holder. Vertical movement of the handle with the positioning unit corresponds to the vertical movement of the tool holder during the crimping operation. Adjustment to different crimp devices and/or different crimping contact types is provided by a bar of the positioning unit being adjustable in vertical direction and automatically lockable and releasable.

Crimp press for the production of a crimping connection

A crimping installation with first and second crimping stations includes at each station a device platform with device stations and a crimp press. A cable is advanced by a tape drive whereby the leading cable end is taken over by a first grip arm arranged on a first swivel arm, which supplies the stripped cable end to the first crimping station. After the leading cable end is provided with a crimping contact, a first swivel arm moves backwards into an axis of the tape drive. Then the tape drive continues to advance the cable until the desired length of a cable section is reached. A separation and a stripping station separates the cable section from the cable and removes the insulation at the cable ends. The lagging cable end of the cable section is taken over by a second grip arm arranged on a second swivel arm which supplies the lagging cable end to the second crimping station for assembly with a crimping contact. With the device stations located on a rotatable disk, a change of a type of contact to another type of contact is possible with minimum downtime of the crimp press.

A cable-processing device includes a first drive for swiveling movement and a second drive for linear movement of a swivel-arm. The swivel-arm is held on a bracket for rotation about an axle with a spring force acting counterclockwise on the swivel-arm. A gripper on the end of the swivel-arm holds a cable-end between first and second gripper-jaws. The jaws are arranged rotatably on an axle and are opened and closed by means of gears. To reduce the swivel-arm mass to be moved, the actuator for the gears is arranged on the swivel-arm.

A crimp press apparatus with first and second crimping stations includes at each station a device platform with device stations and a crimp press. A cable is advanced by a tape drive whereby the leading cable end is supplied to the first crimping station. After the leading cable end is provided with a crimping contact, the tape drive continues to advance the cable until the desired length of a cable section is reached. A separation and a stripping station separates the cable section from the cable and removes the insulation at the cable ends. The lagging cable end of the cable section is supplied to the second crimping station for assembly with a crimping contact. With the device stations located on a rotatable disk, a change of a type of contact to another type of contact is possible with minimum downtime of the crimp press apparatus.
