Apparatus and methods for detecting onset of cardiac arrest utilizing a perfusion monitor. Detecting cardiac arrest comprises transmitting a signal toward a user to interact with the skin of the user, receiving a reflection of the signal, generating a photoplethysmogram, and processing the photoplethysmogram to detect whether the user is experiencing cardiac arrest.

Apparatus and methods for detecting cardiac arrest

A medical system for sensing a physiological state requiring defibrillation in a patient. The system comprising: a low power sensor, a physiological parameter measuring device, and a processor. The low power sensor generating a baseline signal relating to a physiological status of said patient. The physiological parameter measuring device comprising at least one higher power sensor configured to output at least one physiological parameter signal indicative of at least one physiological parameter of said patient. The processor assessing the baseline signal and determining if the physiological status is outside predetermined threshold boundaries.

A stimulation device that stimulates living tissue includes an energy harvesting circuit that receives an output signal from another device and that powers the stimulation device, immediately or otherwise, using the output signal. The stimulation devices also includes a stimulation circuit that generates a stimulation signal to elicit a predetermined response from the living tissue, and at least one lead that delivers the stimulation signal to the living tissue.
