A mobile device having a time controlled electronic wallet is disclosed. The mobile device comprises a processor and an electronic wallet application that executes on the processor. The electronic wallet application enters a ready-to-pay mode, initiates a ready-to-pay timer when entering the ready-to-pay mode, transmits the confidential information when in the ready-to-pay mode based on receiving contactless communication, and leaves the ready-to-pay mode when the ready-to-pay timer expires.

A portable electronic device is provided. The portable electronic device comprises a processor, a memory, a display, and a first application stored in the memory that, when executed by the processor, receives indications of a plurality of events. The application also stores event information associated with the events in the memory, and when a user interface of a second application that is presented on the display is navigated away from, presents an announcement about one of the stored event information on the display.

A portable electronic device is disclosed. The portable electronic device comprises a contactless communication transceiver configured to provide payment information to a point-of-sale terminal, a first input device configured to receive inputs, and a processor. The processor is configured to activate an electronic wallet based on inputs from at least one of the first input device and the contactless communication transceiver, to access the payment information in the electronic wallet, and to provide the payment information to the contactless communication transceiver.

A wireless communication device comprises a wireless communication interface, a user interface, and a processing system. The wireless communication interface is configured to detect a wireless signal that indicates status update information for a social networking application. The processing system is configured to monitor the social networking application for an attempt to transfer the status update information for delivery to a social networking system, and if the social networking application attempts the transfer, to delay the transfer and direct the user interface to prompt a user to edit the status update information. The user interface is configured to receive edit instructions from the user. The processing system is configured to process the edit instructions to edit the status update information and to direct the wireless communication interface to wirelessly transfer the edited status update information for delivery to the social networking system.

Methods are disclosed for determining, based on a pass code inputted by a user, whether the user can access a particular feature of a mobile device. Features may include access to the device itself, products, services, applications, or the like. The mobile device requests access to the feature, and is sent display information for a plurality of icons, which indicates where each icon is to be displayed. An ordered selection of icons is received to determine whether the ordered selection matches a predetermined ordered selection. If they match, the user is allowed to access the feature of the mobile device.

The method comprises a point-of-sale terminal receiving a confidential information from a portable electronic device over a contactless communication link, the confidential information being used by the point-of-sale terminal to complete the transaction. A system for impeding reception of confidential information is disclosed. The system comprises a point-of-sale transceiver configured to receive confidential information transmitted by a mobile device incorporating an electronic wallet and a signal generator in communication with the point-of-sale transceiver and configured to broadcast a jamming signal substantially concurrently with the point-of-sale transceiver receiving the confidential information.

A method of a portable electronic device providing payment from an electronic wallet is provided. The method comprises prompting for input of a personal identification number (PIN) after the wallet has been opened and providing payment from the wallet after receiving the PIN, when the wallet is configured to a first level of security. The method also comprises providing payment from the wallet after the wallet has been opened, when the wallet is configured to a second level of wallet security, wherein the PIN is not contemporaneously input. The method also comprises providing payment from the wallet when the electronic portable device has been activated, when the wallet is configured to a third level of wallet security, wherein the wallet is not opened and the PIN is not contemporaneously input.
