An internal combustion engine system including a cylinder block, a cylinder head attached to the cylinder block, an EGR cooler, and a coolant collector bracket is provided. The cylinder head includes a plurality of coolant passages. The coolant collector bracket is coupled to and between the cylinder head and the EGR cooler. The coolant collector bracket includes a plurality of coolant inlets directly coupled to a plurality of outlets of the plurality of coolant passages of the cylinder head. The coolant collector bracket also includes an EGR coolant outlet directly coupled to an inlet of the EGR cooler. The coolant collector bracket also includes an EGR cooler inlet directly coupled to an outlet of the EGR cooler.

A coolant collector bracket including a front side, a back side, and a top side is provided. The back side is opposite the front side and includes a plurality of coolant inlets for receiving coolant from a cylinder head. The top side includes an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler inlet and an EGR coolant outlet. The EGR coolant inlet and the EGR coolant outlet are substantially orthogonal to the plurality of coolant inlets.

A cylinder liner is provided that includes a cylinder bore capable of housing a piston, a top end having an annular flange, a first cylindrical section, a second cylindrical section, and an annular ridge that separates the first cylindrical section and the second cylindrical section. When employed in an a liner bore of an engine bock, the cylinder liner provides for two channels that allow for coolant to be supplied to the cylinder liner.

A passive diverter fitting for a cooling system of an engine includes a base defining an interior cavity, an inlet opening extending through the base that is in fluid communication with the interior cavity, an outlet opening that is in fluid communication with the interior cavity, and a bypass opening that is in fluid communication with the interior cavity. The base is configured to be removably disposed in a cavity of an engine block. The inlet opening is positioned to receive coolant when the passive diverter fitting is disposed in the cavity of the engine block. The outlet opening is in fluid communication with the area exterior to the engine block when the passive diverter fitting is disposed in the cavity of the engine block. The bypass opening is in fluid communication with an interior coolant passage of the engine block when the passive diverter fitting is disposed in the cavity of the engine block.

Diverter fittings for cooling systems of an engine

Apparatuses and methods are disclosed including heat exchanger for an internal combustion engine. The heat exchanger can include a main body, a manifold and one or more outlet ports. The main body can have an inlet and an outlet to receive/pass a coolant on a first side thereof. The main body can have a fluid inlet and fluid outlet configured to receive a fluid. The main body can pass the fluid in a heat exchange relationship with the coolant. The manifold can be coupled to the main body on a second side. The manifold can be in fluid communication with a main coolant outlet passage to receive a portion of the coolant from the main body. The one or more outlet ports can be fluidly connected to the manifold and passing the portion of the coolant to one or more engine auxiliary systems.

An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler for mounting to a coolant collector bracket may include a cooler body having a top, a bottom, a length extending in a longitudinal direction, and a width extending in a lateral direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, and at least one mount coupled to the bottom of the cooler body. An interior of the mount may be in fluid communication with an interior of the cooler body. A width of the at least one mount in the lateral direction of the cooler body may be equal to or less than the width of the cooler body. The at least one mount may be positioned such that the mount does not extend beyond the width of the cooler body.

An internal combustion engine includes a one-piece cylinder block casting, a flywheel supported for rotation at a front block end, and a back gear train supported for rotation at a back block end. Cast-in pump inlet and outlet passages are formed in the cylinder block casting and open in a pump mounting face at the back block end. An oil pump is clamped to the pump mounting face and includes a pump inlet and a pump outlet fluidly connected, respectively, to the cast-in pump inlet passage and the cast-in pump outlet passage.

An engine includes a cylinder block having formed therein a plurality of cylinders, a main oil gallery, and a spray jet gallery. A cross-hole is fluidly connected to the main oil gallery and extends to the spray jet gallery. Oil spray jets are each fluidly connected to one of a plurality of oil feed holes fluidly connected to the spray jet gallery. An oil admission valve, which can be hydraulically actuated or electrically actuated, is supported in the cylinder block and movable between a closed position to block the spray jet gallery and each of the oil feed holes from the cross-hole, and an open position.

An internal combustion engine having an engine block and one or more cylinder heads. The engine block houses a plurality of cylinder liners and includes a cylinder liner coolant jacket below an upper planar surface of the engine block and in fluid communication with the plurality of cylinder liners. The one or more cylinder heads are attached to the upper planar surface of the engine block and each of the one or more cylinder heads including one or more cylinder head coolant jackets and one or more downward coolant passages extending from the one or more cylinder head coolant jackets to the cylinder liner coolant jacket for delivering coolant from the one or more cylinder head coolant jackets to the cylinder liner coolant jacket.

An internal combustion engine system including a cylinder block, a cylinder head attached to the cylinder block, an EGR cooler, and a coolant collector bracket configured to vertically support the EGR cooler is provided. The cylinder head includes a lateral surface including a plurality of fasteners positioned along a bottom edge of the lateral surface. The cylinder head also includes a plurality of coolant passages. The coolant collector bracket is horizontally coupled to the cylinder head and perpendicularly coupled to the EGR cooler. The coolant collector bracket includes a plurality of mounting legs directly coupled to the lateral surface of the cylinder head. The plurality of mounting legs include a plurality of slots. The plurality of mounting legs are slidably inserted onto the plurality of fasteners of the cylinder head via the plurality of slots.

Mounting structure for engine coolant collector

A circuit (90) converts a true ECL signal to a true TTL signal. The circuit includes a differential circuit (180) that receives an ECL signal having high and low values. The differential circuit produces a differential signal therefrom that has a high value in response to one of the high and low values of the true ECL signal, and a low value in response to the other of the high and low values of the true ECL signal. A first translator circuit (36, 64) has an input (32) coupled to the differential circuit (180). The first translator circuit (36, 64) transmits a true low TTL output (56) signal having a voltage level referenced to the voltage level of a TTL low supply voltage in response to receiving a high value of the differential signal. A second translator circuit (46, 52) has an input (38) and is coupled to a TTL high supply voltage and the output (56). An input signal appearing on the input (38) of the second translator circuit has a voltage level related to the voltage level of the differential signal (32). The second translator circuit (46, 52) transmits a high TTL output signal having a voltage level referenced to the voltage level of the TTL high supply voltage in response to the differential signal (32) being at a low value.

ECL/TTL conversion circuit and translation programmable array logic

A programmable memory includes a memory matrix (34) with a row decode circuit (36) and a column decode circuit (48) operable in the program mode to select one of the memory elements in the memory matrix (34). A current boost circuit (50) is operable to provide increased current to the selected cell such that selection of the cell opens the fuse associated therewith to change the logic state. The pins associated with the column and row addresses have multiple mode functions such that in the normal operating mode they can be assigned other tasks and in the programming mode are utilized primarily for addressing of the memory cells.
