Headphones include a headband and a yoke that is pivotably coupled to the headband. The yoke includes first and second yoke arms that each extend from a pivot point to respective distal ends. An earphone is pivotably coupled to the yoke. The earphone includes an earcup that defines first and second recesses for receiving the distal ends of the yoke arms. The earcup and the yoke are configured such that the distal ends of the yoke arms can be slid into the recesses in the earcup for assembly without elastic deformation of the yoke arms or the earcup.

Headphones

Headphones include a cushion assembly and a slider telescopically coupled to the cushion assembly. The slider includes a proximal end that is disposed within the cushion assembly and a distal end extending outward from the cushion assembly. A pivot mount is disposed within an opening at the distal end of the slider. A pivot is supported in the pivot mount. The headphones also include an earphone and a yoke that couples the earphone to the slider. The pivot mount is secured to the slider via a fastener, and wherein the yoke is pivotable to a position in which it covers the fastener when the headphones are in use.

Pivot attachment for headphones

Headphones include a cushion assembly, a slider telescopingly received within the cushion assembly, and an earphone. A yoke couples the earphone to the slider. A pivot is disposed at an open end of the slider and couples the yoke to the slider. The pivot includes a barrel that is received within an opening in the yoke. The barrel is secured within the opening via a pin that is inserted into a hole in the yoke.

A flexible arm that is configured to be located between and physically and electrically connect an acoustic module of an open-ear headphone to a battery housing of the open-ear headphone. The flexible arm defines an original resting length and position between the acoustic module and the battery housing. The flexible arm includes a flexible printed circuit that extends through the entire original resting length of the flexible arm and comprises a conductor that is configured to carry electrical energy between the acoustic module and the battery housing. A first interface structure is coupled to one of the acoustic module and the battery housing. A flexible material encases at least some of the flexible printed circuit and at least some of the first interface structure.

Open-ear headphone

Various implementations include headphone systems. In one implementation, a headband for a headphone system, includes: a continuous spring section sized to extend over a head of a user; an earcup mount coupled with an end of the continuous spring section, where the earcup mount allows for both translation and rotation of an earcup relative to the continuous spring section without altering a length of the continuous spring section; and a friction assembly spanning between the continuous spring section and the earcup mount.

Various implementations include headphone systems. In one implementation, a headband for a headphone system, includes: a continuous spring section sized to extend over a head of a user; an earcup mount coupled with an end of the continuous spring section, the continuous spring section and the earcup mount forming an arcuate joint, and the earcup mount configured to rotate relative to the continuous spring section at the arcuate joint; and a friction assembly spanning between the continuous spring section and the earcup mount, the friction assembly linearly arranged across the arcuate joint and configured to provide a substantially constant resistance to the rotation of the earcup mount relative to the continuous spring section, where the friction assembly includes a coupler having a primary axis extending across the arcuate joint, where the earcup mount rotates off-axis relative to the primary axis of the coupler.

An open audio device includes a housing and an acoustic radiator in the housing and that emits front-side acoustic radiation from its front side and emits rear-side acoustic radiation from its rear side. A front acoustic cavity in the housing receives front-side acoustic radiation, wherein the housing defines a front sound-emitting opening. A rear acoustic cavity in the housing that receives rear-side acoustic radiation, wherein the housing defines a rear sound-emitting opening. A support structure is configured to carry the housing on a user's head such that the housing is held proximate an ear of the user with one of the front or rear sound-emitting openings anterior of and proximate the tragus of the ear. The housing comprises an inner end that is configured to be closest to the user's head. The one of the front or rear sound-emitting openings that is anterior of and proximate the tragus of the ear lies at an angle to the inner end of the housing.

Open audio device

An audio device with a body configured to be worn on or abutting an outer ear of a user. The body comprises an upper curved portion that is configured to be located proximate the upper portion of the outer ear helix and is relatively more compliant about a vertical axis and is less compliant about a horizontal axis. An acoustic module is coupled to the upper curved portion of the body. The acoustic module is configured to locate a sound-emitting opening anteriorly of and proximate the user's ear canal opening when the body is worn on or abutting the outer ear of the user.

Audio device

An audio device with a body having a length and configured to be worn on or abutting an outer ear of a user, an arm coupled to the body and defining a distal end that is configured to contact an ear root dimple of the user, wherein the arm is configured to be moved relative to the body, and an acoustic module carried by the body and configured to locate a sound-emitting opening anteriorly of and proximate to the user's ear canal opening when the body is worn on or abutting the ear of the user.

Various implementations include headphone systems. In one implementation a headband for a headphone system includes: a continuous spring section sized to extend over a head of a user; an earcup mount coupled with an end of the continuous spring section, forming an arcuate joint, where the earcup mount is configured to rotate relative to the continuous spring section at the arcuate joint; and a friction assembly spanning between the continuous spring section and the earcup mount, and configured to provide a substantially constant resistance to the rotation of the earcup mount relative to the continuous spring section, the friction assembly including a coupler having: an upper collar in the continuous spring section, the upper collar comprising a radial protrusion; and a lower collar in the earcup mount, the lower collar comprising a rotation stop for interacting with the radial protrusion in the upper collar.

A loudspeaker includes a first electro-acoustic driver that creates sound waves when operated, and a housing. A first baffle is coupled to the housing and the first electro-acoustic driver. A first speaker grille covers the first electro-acoustic driver. A first gasket is disposed between the first baffle and the first speaker grille. The first gasket comprises a first set of energy directors to reduce buzzing between the first gasket and the first baffle.

Portable loudspeaker

Various implementations include headphone systems. In one implementation a headband for a headphone system includes: a continuous spring section sized to extend over a head of a user; an earcup mount coupled with an end of the continuous spring section, where the continuous spring section and the earcup mount form an arcuate joint, and where the earcup mount is configured to rotate relative to the continuous spring section at the arcuate joint; and a friction assembly spanning between the continuous spring section and the earcup mount, the friction assembly linearly arranged across the arcuate joint and configured to provide a substantially constant resistance to the rotation of the earcup mount relative to the continuous spring section.

Various aspects include audio eyeglasses with through-hinge wiring configurations. In particular aspects, audio eyeglasses include: a frame for resting on a head of a user, the frame comprising: a lens region; a pair of arms extending from the lens region; and a hinge coupling the lens region and one of the pair of arms, the hinge comprising: a body; a friction element coupled to the body for damping the movement of the arm relative to the lens region; and a cavity within the body, the cavity sized to accommodate a cable extending therethrough, the hinge permitting movement of the arm relative to the lens region; and an electro-acoustic transducer at least partially housed in the frame and comprising a sound-radiating surface for providing an audio output.

An acoustic system includes a housing includes an acoustic element opening with an inner edge extending from a first, outer surface of the housing to a second, inner surface of the housing, and an acoustic element having an acoustic element foam layer extending at least partially along a circumferential perimeter of the acoustic element, where the acoustic element foam layer is configured to engage the inner edge of the acoustic element opening when the acoustic element is positioned within the opening, and where the acoustic element foam layer is compressed in a direction perpendicular to a central axis of the acoustic element when the acoustic element is positioned within the opening, such that an acoustic seal is created.
