The composition includes a curable fluoropolymer having nitrogen-containing cure sites and a curative including an organo onium cation and an anion represented by Formula (I) or Formula (II). The composition is free of metal cations or has not more than 20 parts per million metal cations and free of silicon dioxide or has less than 0.5 percent by weight silicon dioxide, based on the total weight of the composition. In some cases, the composition consists of the curable fluoropolymer and the curative. Shaped articles including the composition, a fluoroelastomer prepared by curing the composition, a method of making a fluoroelastomer article, and a process for making the composition are also described.

Composition including curable fluoropolymer and curative and methods of making and using them

Described herein is curable composition comprising a partially halogenated elastomeric gum comprising a plurality of cure sites selected from at least one of iodine, bromine, and nitrile; a silicon-containing compound; a dehydrohalogenation agent; and a peroxide cure system. Upon curing, a silicon-containing superficial layer forms, which can provide good chemical stability, increased durability, non-tackiness, and a matte finish to the cured elastomer.

Peroxide-cured halogenated elastomers having a silicon-containing superficial layer

Described herein is curable composition comprising a halogenated amorphous polymer having at least 25% halogen by weight; at least 0.5 phr of an acid acceptor; at least 0.01 phr of silicon-containing compound; and a dehydrohalogenation cure system. Upon curing, a silicon-containing superficial layer forms, which can provide increased durability, non-tackiness, and a matte finish to the cured elastomer.

Each X is independently F, H, or Cl; Rand R&#x2032;are each independently F or a monovalent perfluoroalkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R is F or a partially fluorinated or perfluorinated alkyl having 1 to 3 carbon atoms; R&#x2033;is a divalent fluoroalkylene having 1 to 8 carbon atoms or a divalent fluorinated alkylene ether having 1 to 20 carbon atoms and at least one ether linkage; k is 0 or 1; and n, m, p, and q are each independently an integer from 0 to 5, with the proviso that when k is 0, n+m is at least 1 and p+q is at least 1. Composition including amorphous fluoropolymer and fluoroplastic particles and methods of making the same

Described herein is a composition comprising (i) a hydrofluorothermoplastic polymer, wherein the hydrofluorothermoplastic polymer is derived from: (a) 50-85 mol % tetrafluoroethene; (b) 2-15 mol % hexafluoropropene; (c) 10-35 mol % vinylidene fluoride; and (d) 0.1 to 5 mol % of a bromine-containing monomer; and (ii) a perhalogenated thermoplastic polymer. Such compositions can be used in multilayer constructions in, for example, fuel hose applications.

Fluorothermoplastic polymer compositions

Described herein is a composition comprising a fluorothermoplastic polymer, wherein the fluorothermoplastic polymer is derived from: (a) 60-85 mol % tetrafluoroethene; (b) 2-12 mol % hexafluoropropene; (c) 10-30 mol % vinylidene fluoride; (d) 0.2 to 5 mol % of a bromine-containing monomer. Such compositions can be used in multilayer constructions in, for example, fuel hose applications.
