A shock-isolation system having a platform for supporting an operator station and a console which can both be fixedly secured to the platform in a relative non-displacement mode with the platform supported by a shock mount that simultaneously isolates the platform including an operator, the operator station and the console as a unitary component from high 'g' shock to thereby minimize injury to an operator due to impact with either the operator station, the console or the platform.

User coupled workspace shock isolation system

A fluid flow device in one embodiment comprising a housing having an aperture or a plurality of apertures therein and in another embodiment a single chamber with a piston such as a flexible member forming a chamber and a vibratory member for vibrating the flexible member to simultaneously eject an array of laminar flow fluid vortices that coalesce with each other to form a larger fluid vortex that can be used for direct cooling or for inducing circulation of a cooling fluid within an enclosure to cool the components within the system. When used within a closed system the inventor provides a zero net flux device as the fluid contained within a sealed chamber can be stirred, or mixed, without the introduction of fresh fluid from the outside the system.

Flat fan device

An energy dissipation system for limiting forces applied to object; includes a piston rod that extends out of a pneumatic cylinder which contacts the object, the piston rod is forced from its initial position against a return spring and air is forced into an air line. The force transmitted to the object is consumed by an energy transformation device that responds to the air in the air line. &lsqb;One such energy transformation device as an air accumulator, which is coupled to the air line trough a check valve. An orifice or release valve, releases air up a predetermined flow rate so that the linear motion of the protected object is transformed into work, which is dissipated.&rsqb; &lsqb;Another&rsqb; The energy transformation device consists of an air-driven motor coupled to a heavy flywheel &lsqb;through&rsqb; that is driven by the motor. &lsqb;A third alternative energy transformation device consist of a second dissipation cylinder and piston, where the dissipation cylinder is coupled to the air line so that the air in line, drives the pistons against a return spring that orifice or release valve, may also be coupled to the airline on to the dissipation cylinder.&rsqb;

Energy dissipation system

A shock isolator having a housing securable to a support structure with the housing containing a bell shaped elastomer having a base secured to the housing and an axially offset apex surface secured to a connector to cantileverly support equipment to be isolated from shock with the cantileverly support of apex surface from the base insuring that any displacement of the connector produces a substantial shearing action in the elastomer to effectively damp the effect of a shock on the shock isolator.

Elastomeric six degree of freedom isolator

A spring element is made of a spring material and is formed into a generally elliptical shape. Two mounting pins extend in a normal direction through parallel relatively short segments of said elliptically-shaped spring element. The mounting pins are substantially aligned with the shorter of the two axis of the elliptically-shaped spring element so as to extend both inwardly and outwardly of said elliptically-shaped spring element. An elastomeric coating is applied around substantially all of the spring elements and a pair of blocks, each of which surrounds one of the mounting pins receives one of the mounting pins. A number of spring elements are joined together by two parallel, spaced-apart coupling links which contain cavities therein to receive one of the blocks of each of the spring elements.
