An electrified vehicle battery includes battery cells each having a container including a first jelly roll electrically connected to a second jelly roll by a fusible link with the first and second jelly rolls and the fusible link being disposed within the container and battery terminals electrically connected to the first jelly roll and extending from the container. The fusible link may be formed by a connector having a reduced cross-sectional area, which may correspond to one or more apertures extending through the connector. The fusible link may be coated with a ceramic material.

A vehicle includes a controller that, during a predefined period of time and responsive to an average current of the battery exceeding a first current threshold for a first period of time, reduces a maximum current threshold of the battery by a first amount, and during the predefined period of time and responsive to the average current exceeding a second current threshold for a second period of time, further reduces the maximum current threshold by a second amount.

Control of vehicle battery

This disclosure describes various embodiments of a battery assembly for an electrified vehicle battery pack. The battery assemblies include one or more battery cells (e.g., cylindrical, prismatic, or pouch cells) and a cooling device extending at least partially through the battery cells. The cooling device is configured to either conductively or convectively cool the battery cells. In some embodiments, the cooling device is a solid rod, a hollow tube, a slab, or some combination of these features. In other embodiments, the cooling device connects to a coolant manifold configured to communicate coolant for convectively cooling the battery cells of the battery assembly.

Effectively cooled battery assemblies

A charging system for charging a vehicle includes a charging station and a vehicle. The charging station includes a wireless charging coil, an infrared receiver oriented to receive infrared signals generated proximate the coil, and a first wireless communications device. The vehicle includes a charge plate, a first emitter configured to generate a first infrared signal, a second wireless communications device in communication with the first wireless communication device, an in-vehicle display, and at least one controller. The vehicle can include a second emitter to emit a second infrared signal. The controller is configured to present positional information via the display. The positional information corresponds to a vehicle position detected in response to the first infrared signal being received by the infrared receiver.
