A sealed electrical connector assembly 2 used to interconnect wires 4 with a printed circuit board comprises a receptacle connector 6 matable with a pin header 8. The receptacle connector 6 includes a secondary lock 60 located on the mating face of an insulative housing 30. Integral latches 50 are received within correspondingly shaped pocket 62 in the secondry lock. A conductor seal cap includes a plurality of projections which can be selectively removed. Remaining projections seal individual seal cavities. A stamped and formed pin is used in the pin header. An integral plug is used to seal the leak path on the interior of the stamped and formed cylindrical pins.

Multi-contact electrical connector with secondary lock

An apparatus in the form of an electrical connector which permits electrical programming of circuits, such as an integrated circuit component, and subsequent mechanical reprogramming of the same circuitry is disclosed. The connector includes a plurality of signal terminals and at least one ground terminal adapted to engage printed circuit board traces joining leads of an integrated circuit component. A fusible wire initially joins selected signal terminals to ground. Portions of the wire can be severed by application of an electrical potential between selected signal terminals and ground sufficient to generate a current in excess of the current carrying capacity of the wire. The terminals are held in place by an insulative body and are inserted into an insulative housing where contact can be made with a pin header having detachable pins for mechanically reprogramming the device.

Electrically and mechanically programmable electrical apparatus

A pull to seat electrical connector having a plurality of terminals which are pulled into cavities in an insulative housing through the mating face of the terminal is disclosed. Unterminated wires are first inserted through cavities in the housing and terminals are attached adjacent the housing mating face. When wires are then pulled, the terminals are pulled into the cavities and rotated into alignment with the cavities, so that box-shaped receptacle contact sections are properly oriented. The rear of each cavity conforms generally to the outer contour of the wires, whereas the receptacle enclosing portion of each cavity adjacent the mating face of the connector conforms generally to the receptacle configuration, such as a box-shaped receptacle contact portion. Stop fingers, extending upwardly from the terminal, engage inner shoulders to stop rearward movement of the terminals in the cavities. A retainer cap, formed of a material more flexible than the main housing, is then snapped onto the connector and attached to the mating face to prevent the terminals from being pushed out through the mating face.

Pull to seat connector

An electrical connector assembly includes a mating receptacle and header. The receptacle includes contacts having beam members integral with and extending between a forward and rearward cylindrical portion. The beam members are formed in opposed pairs with constricted portions at different axial locations. The spacing between the opposed pairs of beams is less than the widths of the beams. The header includes rows of square posts for mating with the socket contacts, the rows of posts being axially offset from each other.

Method and apparatus embrace loading electrical conductor wires (100) into a wire retainer (36) which in turn is made to engage and become part of a frame (30) having grooves (37) therein and apertures (34, 35) adapted to receive the retainer and/or components (120) which are terminated to wires implanted in said grooves. The wire retainer may be in the form of a simple wire organizer or an electrical connector. Wire implantation via rolling is taught wherein a roller (114) is driven to cause frame movement beneath the roller.

Method for electrical wiring utilizing wire retainer

An electrical probe includes a base member and a cover member, the base member including a plurality of channels disposed therealong on an upper surface of the base member. The base member also includes a plurality of electrical terminals disposed in apertures below the channels, with resilient contact portions aligned along a front edge thereof. The probe is profiled for use with an electrical connector which has a retractable seal exposing portions of the terminals within the connector. The probe is aligned with the connector housing, the housing and probe cooperatively providing polarization to align the terminals within the probe with the individual insulated conductors which lead into the electrical connector and the cover member is placed over the base member to trap the insulated conductors between the base and the cover and resiliently bias electrical terminals of the probe against the extending portions of the connector terminals.

Probe for sealed connector

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing having a front mating face and a rear sealed face. The connector housing further includes a plurality of terminals disposed in apertures which extend between the front face and the rear sealing face of the housing. The terminals include front contacting portions adjacent to the front face and wire connecting portions adjacent to the rear face. The terminal also includes an integral portion which extends beyond the rear sealing face. A seal is provided at the rear sealing face which is retractable therefrom to expose the extending terminal portions for probing. The seal is retractable from the rear sealing face while the electrical connector is connected to a matable receptacle, and while the system, to which the electrical connector and receptacle are connected, is operating.
