A material collection system tube fastener includes a mounting rod attached to a material collection system tube. The mounting rod has a first end inserted into a bushing at a first end of a side discharge outlet on a multi-blade mower deck, and a second end engaging a hook at a second end of the side discharge outlet. The mounting rod may pivot in the bushing to move the material collection system tube toward and away from the side discharge outlet.

A grass collection chute fastener includes a lever that tensions a strap that engages the grass collection chute and mower deck. A hook attached to the strap is insertable into a hole adjacent a side discharge opening of a multi-blade mower deck to secure the grass collection chute over the side discharge opening by rotating the lever to an over center position.

A mower deck grass collector chute includes an inlet connected to a side discharge opening in a mower deck, and a tubular portion that extends upwardly and rearwardly to an outlet. The inlet is positioned under the horizontal deck surface and has a curved surface extending forwardly under the mower deck around the perimeter of a first cutting chamber. A forward end of the curved surface may be in front of the first cutting chamber.

A method is provided for controlling a marine propulsion trim system under two distinct modes of operation. A first mode operates hydraulic cylinders at a slower speed when the associated marine vessel is being operated at a speed above a predetermined threshold. For example, when the marine propulsion device is under load, such as when the marine vessel is operating on plane, the first mode of operation is used and the trim/tilt cylinders are operated at a slower speed. A second mode of operation is used when the marine propulsion system is being operated below a predetermined threshold. In other words, if the marine vessel is operating at a slow speed, the faster mode of operation is used. Similarly, if the marine vessel is being prepared for transport on a trailer, the very slow or non-existent speed of operation of the engine is used as an indicator which causes the second mode of operation to be employed.

Method for controlling a marine propulsion trim system

A support device for a marine propulsion system, such as an outboard motor, provides a swivel bracket that is rotatable about a tilt axis relative to a transom bracket with a hydraulic cylinder formed as an integral part of the swivel bracket. A vertical plane in which a central axis of the hydraulic cylinder is disposed is positioned between and parallel to vertical planes in which the tilt axis and steering axis are disposed, respectively. The steering axis is rotatable about the tilt axis and a horizontal plane in which the central axis is disposed remains above a horizontal plane in which the tilt axis is disposed.

Hydraulic steering device for a marine propulsion system

A hydraulically assisted steering system provides a controller which activates a hydraulic pump when a manual throttle selector handle is in either forward or reverse gear selector positions, but deactivates the pump when the handle is in a neutral gear selector position. A controller can also interrogate an ignition key to make sure that it is in an ON position and also respond to the activation of a manual switch which can be used to override the deactivation step of the pump.

Method for controlling a hydraulically assisted steering system of a marine vessel

An outboard motor is provided with an internally contained cylinder and moveable piston. The piston is caused to move by changes in differential pressure between first and second cavities within the cylinder. By adding a hydraulic pump and a steering valve, the hydraulic steering system described in U.S. Pat. No. 6,402,577 is converted to a power hydraulic steering system by adding a hydraulic pump and a steering valve to a manual hydraulic steering system.
