A paper binding system utilizing standard single, double or three-hole paper punches allows for binding variable numbers of pages. System uses 2 members; a first member is an elongated tail with an elongated rib and round integrated head on top. A second clamping member attaches to the tail. Second member has a blade that engages the rib. Excess tail can be cut off with scissors. Second member can be removed by inserting a rod into the second member. The rod is inserted in an oval shaped hole with the rod at approximately at a 90 degree to the blade. It goes behind the blade and then travels up a beveled ramp of the rib thereby raising the blade slightly and disengaging the blade from the rib allowing the second member to be removed from the first member.

Paper binding fasteners

A tilt-latch () adapted for releasably securing a pivotable sash window () disposed within opposed guide rails () on a master frame () of a window sash assembly () is disclosed. The sash window () comprises a top sash rail (), a base () and two stiles () connected together at their extremities. The tilt-latch () comprises a housing () adapted to be supported by the top rail (). The housing () has an outward end opening () and a cover (). A latch bolt () is disposed within the housing () and has a nose () adapted for engaging a respective one of the guide rails (). The latch bolt () also has a slot (). The tilt-latch () further has an actuator () having a post (). The post () is received by the slot (). The tilt-latch () also has a spring () for biasing the latch bolt () through the outward end opening (). The actuator () is connected to the latch bolt () and is sized to be positioned over the entire cover () of the housing (). The housing () and latch bolt () are made of plastic and the actuator () is made from zinc.

Actuator for a tilt-latch for a sash window

An integrated sash lock and tilt latch assembly for a sash window slidable within a master frame, including a handle movable among a first, a second and a third position to adjust the assembly among a respective locked, unlocked and tiltable position. The integrated assembly further comprises a rotor coupled to the handle and having a locking cam. The integrated assembly also includes a keeper adapted to be connected to an upper sash window. The integrated assembly further includes a latch bolt housing having a latch bolt slidably disposed therein and a spring for biasing the latch bolt towards the master frame. The integrated assembly further includes a connector coupled proximate a first end to the latch bolt and proximate a second end to a first end of a linkage member. The second end of the linkage member is pivotably coupled to the rotor.

Integrated tilt/sash lock assembly

A window stop () for limiting movement of a sliding window along a predetermined path of window movement is provided. The window stop () has a housing () having a cavity () wherein the housing () is adapted to be positioned adjacent the path of window movement. A bolt (), operatively associated with the cavity (), is moveable between a first position (BP) within the housing () and thereby out of the path of window movement, and a second position (BP) extending out of the housing () into the path of the window movement whereby the window is able to contact the bolt (). A securing means () exerts a force generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the housing and on the bolt () to retain the bolt at the first position (BP). When a second force is applied to overcome the force exerted by the securing means (), a biasing means () displaces the bolt () toward the second position (BP). The bolt () receives forces from the window contacting the extended bolt (), and the forces are distributed throughout the housing ().

Stop for a slidable window

A tilt-latch ( ) adapted for releasably securing a sash window ( ) to a master frame ( ) of a window sash assembly ( ) is disclosed. The tilt-latch ( ) comprises a housing ( ) having an outward end opening ( ) and an inner wall ( ). A latch bolt ( ) is disposed within the housing ( ) and has a nose ( ) adapted for engaging a respective one of a pair of guide rails ( ) of the window assembly ( ). The latch bolt ( ) also has at least one protrusion ( ). The latch bolt ( ) is moveable between a deployed position wherein the nose ( ) extends through the outward end opening ( ) and the protrusion ( ) is spaced from the inner wall ( ), and a retracted position wherein the protrusion ( ) engages a trailing edge ( ) of the inner wall ( ) to maintain the latch bolt ( ) in the retracted position.

The present invention provides a spring balance assembly for use with a sash window. The spring balance assembly comprises a plate, clip, pivot brake assembly, and first and second coil springs. The plate has a first portion, second portion, and a generally perpendicular transition portion thereby defining a cavity proximate the first portion. The cavity accommodates hardware mounted to the sash window during sliding movement of the sash window. The first coil spring is rotatably supported on a first spool and the second coil spring is rotatably supported on a second spool. A lower end of the first spring is connected to an attaching element of the clip. A lower end of the second spring is connected to a first wall of the pivot brake assembly and the clip is connected to the first wall to secure the first and second springs to the pivot brake assembly.

The bolt ( ) receives forces from the window contacting the extended bolt ( ), and the forces are distributed throughout the housing ( ).

Tilt-latch

A sash balance brake and pivot pin assembly for a sash window that maintains the window substantially square prior to installation. The pivot pin extends outwardly from the window sash. The sash balance brake is disposed within a track in the window frame and includes a rotor rotatably disposed within an expandable housing. The pivot pin has a collar for lateral engagement with the rotor to prevent the window frame from bowing away from the window sash, thereby maintaining the window frame substantially square. The rotor has a first slot and a transversely disposed second slot defining an inner surface. The inner surface includes an angled surface to resist breakage of the rotor when the window sash in installed into the window frame. The rotor also has a pair of flats at a first end to further resist breakage of the rotor when the pivot pin is positioned at an angle with respect to the rotor.

A sash balance brake assembly for a sash window system. The sash window system includes a window frame having a pair of generally parallel tracks. Each of the tracks has an outer wall, front and back intermediate walls and front and back inner walls collectively defining a channel. A sash window is transversely disposed between the tracks and is adapted for slidable movement along the tracks. A pair of sash balance assemblies provide a generally upward bias on transverse sides of the sash window. The sash balance brake assembly comprises a rotor rotatable about a rotor axis, a bolt having a generally planar engaging surface, a slider body for placement in a respective one of the channels and for coupling to a respective one of the sash balance assemblies. The slider body includes an aperture for rotatably supporting the rotor adjacent the bolt. The rotor and the bolt include cooperative camming surfaces for converting rotary motion of the rotor into movement of the bolt along the rotor axis, such that the bolt engaging surface selectively engages and disengages the track outer wall.

Sash balance brake assembly

A slidable counterbalance assembly adapted for a sash window assembly disposed within a master frame is disclosed. A coiled leaf spring mounted on the counterbalance assembly has its upper end attached to the top of the guide rail channel of the master frame. A flexible strap is attached at one end to the sash window pivot brake and at the other end to the counterbalance assembly.

A sash balance brake assembly for a sash window system is disclosed. The sash window system includes a window frame having a pair of generally parallel tracks. Each of the tracks has an outer wall, front and back intermediate walls and front and back inner walls collectively defining a channel. A sash window is transversely disposed between the tracks and is adapted for slidable movement along the tracks. A pair of sash balance assemblies provide a generally upward bias on transverse sides of the sash window. The sash balance brake assembly comprises a rotor rotatable about a rotor axis, a bolt having a generally planar engaging surface, a slider body for placement in a respective one of the channels and for coupling to a respective one of the sash balance assemblies. The slider body includes an aperture for rotatably supporting the rotor adjacent the bolt. The rotor and the bolt include cooperative camming surfaces for converting rotary motion of the rotor into movement of the bolt along the rotor axis, such that the bolt engaging surface selectively engages and disengages the track outer wall.

An economical, efficient window stop includes a narrow, flat housing having first and second cavities for respective flat, narrow bolt and latch. The bolt is spring braced and movable between a first portion within the cavity and a second position extending from the cavity. The latch is spring biased and moves transverse to the movement of the bolt. High strength molded plastic construction with guide means and close tolerances allow efficient distribution of forces from the extended bolt to the housing.
