An animal treatment method comprises flushing the animal waste from a barn to a holding tank where the waste is mixed with an alkaline solution to kill pathogens. After neutralization, the solution is separated into solids and liquids. The liquid is treated and recycled as flushing water to clean the barns and/or drinking water for the animals. The solids are separated into digested and undigested feed. The digested feed is further processed for use as a fertilizer and the undigested feed is processed for use as animal feed.

Method for treating hog and animal waste

A wet grinding machine which includes a grinder head, an annular stator mounted on the grinder head, and a rotor rotatably mounted in the grinder head. Shearing blades on the rotor turn inside the stator and sweep across shearing slots in the stator. Each of the shearing slots slopes and overlaps adjacent shearing slots so that each of the blades is constantly addressing an inner edge of at least one of the shearing slots. A classifying screen chamber surrounds the stator but is independent of the grinding machine so that particles of reduced size can pass through the screen to be removed while larger particles are retained and sheared by the rotor blades against inner edges of the slots.

Wet grinding machine

A vent condenser that includes an inner tube, an outer shell mounted on and surrounding the inner tube, a middle shell having an annular body and a closed upper end mounted with the body thereof radially spaced between the inner tube and the outer shell, and a helical heat exchange tube mounted in the space between the inner tube and the middle shell in engagement with the body of the middle shell and with the inner tube. A helical channel is formed between the middle shell, the inner tube, and spaced convolutions of the helical tube. Cooling fluid is directed through the helical tube. Discharge from the deaerator vent passes up the inner tube to return along the helical channel to be cooled in indirect heat exchange relation with the cooling fluid in the helical tube to condense water therefrom and to separate the water from noncondensable gases. The noncondensable gases are directed through the space between the middle shell and the outer shell to reheat the noncondensable gases to a sufficient temperature that no substantial plume is formed when the noncondensable gases are discharged through the discharge fitting.

Vent condenser

A process for removing sulfur dioxide and other contaminants from a hot waste gas stream in which the waste gas stream is cooled to a temperature below 100.degree.F and then passed in sequence through two separate absorption zones utilizing as the absorbent a recirculated aqueous solution of ammonium sulfite-bisulfite salts. Heat is continuously withdrawn from the recirculated salt solution in each zone. The absorbent solution in the first zone has an initial pH of from 6 to 7.2 and a salt concentration of from 1 to 20% by weight. The absorbent solution in the second zone has an initial pH of from 5.2 to 6.5 and a salt concentration, lower than said first zone of, from 0.1 to 5% by weight. The process provides for the efficient absorption and substantial removal of SO.sub.2, SO.sub.3 and particulate contaminants and for the economic recovery and use of heat from stack gases of a variety of industrial and commercial operations.
