A method for threading a running paper web from a preceding section to a following section of a paper-making or paper-finishing machine, includes the steps of: providing a threading tail of the running paper web by cutting it from the running paper web at least one of its edges; providing at least one sensing element for gaining data from at least one property of the threading tail and/or threading process; transferring the gained data into a data collecting system and/or into an analysis system; and using the data for influencing the at least one property of the threading tail and/or the threading process.

Method and system for threading a running paper web

A method of, and apparatus for, transferring a web, in particular a paper web or cardboard web or an insertion tail severed from the web, from a web-discharging web-guiding surface, via a web conveying apparatus, to the next structural unit of a machine for producing and/or handling the continuous paper web or cardboard web, the insertion tail is detached from the web-guiding surface by way of at least one brief high-energy air jet. The present invention provides that in the case of a web of high grammage, immediately once the tail has been detached from the web-guiding surface, the tail, which has been severed at least on a preliminary basis, is completely severed by an additional mechanical severing arrangement and, by way of its newly formed start, gripped, and passed on, by way of the web conveying apparatus.

Method and apparatus for transferring a paper web

An apparatus is available for transferring a flexible material web from an upstream section to at least one downstream section of a machine having a web running direction. The machine is configured for at least one of manufacturing and treating the material web. The apparatus includes two separation elements configured for splitting and thereby separating the material web into an edge strip, an adjoining transfer strip and a remaining web adjoining the transfer strip, the edge strip extending in the web running direction. The apparatus further includes at least one deflection device configured for deflecting the edge strip away from the transfer strip and simultaneously tautening the edge strip upon deflection thereof.

Method and apparatus for the transferring of a flexible material web

Process for transferring at least a portion of a running web from a first section of a web making machine includes rotating an endless conveyor belt by driving at least one driven pulley, creating a negative pressure at an inner surface of endless conveyor belt as endless conveyor belt is guided over suction box, and guiding the at least a portion of running web onto endless conveyor belt. Process also includes transferring the at least a portion of the running web from endless conveyor to rope section located outside of a web width, pivoting endless conveyor belt around the pivot axis to move downstream end into an area of rope section one of at and before transferring, and pivoting endless conveyor belt around pivot axis to move downstream end into an area of the at least a portion of running web and inside web width.

Vacuum conveyor

An apparatus transfers a lead strip of a paper web, in particular the beginning of a still wet lead strip or tail, from a press roll of a paper-making machine to a following section of that machine. An air jet device peels off the beginning of the tail from the press roll and transfers it across a paper roll to an infeed area of a felt which guides the web into the following section. On an infeed area of the felt, an air cushion is created by an air table having a plurality of tiny holes delivering air from a low pressure plenum to the air cushion.

Method and apparatus for the transfer of a lead strip of a paper web

Vacuum conveyor and process for transporting at least a portion of a material web in a web travel direction. The vacuum conveyor includes two pulleys, a suction box positioned between the two pulleys, and an endless conveyor belt arranged around the two pulleys to form a loop. The suction box is positioned within the loop and the loop includes a conveyor run adapted to contact and guide the material web and a return run moving in a direction opposite the conveyor run. The suction box includes a suction opening positioned adjacent the conveyor run to suction the material web onto the conveyor belt and an exhaust opening positioned adjacent the return run. A vacuum source is coupled to the exhaust opening through the return run. The process includes creating a suction air flow from the vacuum source to the suction box through the return run of the conveyor belt, suctioning the at least a portion of the material web onto a conveying run of an endless conveyor with a suction box having a suction opening positioned adjacent at least a portion of the conveying run, and moving the endless conveyor to transport the at least a portion of the material web.

Apparatus for transferring at least a portion of a running web from a first section of a web making machine to a second section of the web making machine includes at least two pulleys, in which at least one is a driven pulley, a suction box coupled to a vacuum source, an air-pervious endless conveyor belt tensioned over the at least two pulleys to form a conveying run and a return run, and a device for creating a negative pressure at an inner surface of the conveying run. The at least one driven pulley is adapted to drive the endless conveyor belt over the at least two pulleys while the negative pressure propagates through the conveying run. The endless conveyor belt includes an upstream and a downstream end and the endless conveyor belt is pivotable around a pivot axis located in a region of the upstream end. The endless conveyor belt is pivotable to move the portion of the running web between the rope section and the portion is adapted to receive a full width of the running web. Apparatus also includes a control system for moving the downstream end into an area of the web width when a beginning of the at least a portion of the web has entered the rope section.
