A volatile corrosion inhibitor may be in the form of, or derived from, molasses. Corrosion inhibition activity may be provided by molasses products, including molasses and/or any derivative product generated therefrom. Example molasses products include concentrated molasses, dehydrated molasses, molasses distillates or pot bottoms from distillation, extracted fractions of molasses, molasses fractions prepared by precipitation or membrane separation, and molasses residues remaining after removal of additional sugar or other targeted compounds. In one embodiment, the molasses-based corrosion inhibitor may be derived from sugar beet molasses.

The composition may be applied as a deicer to corrosion-susceptible materials without substantial risk of corrosion.

Anti-corrosive corn extracts

A sheathed posttensioning cable assembly including an elongated metallic cable and a coaxially disposed outer sheath, with the cable assembly including a polymeric resin fiber/filament impregnated with a migratory corrosion inhibitor being inserted within the sheath and extending along the length of the cable. The polymeric resin is preferably polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon, or polyethylene terephthalate, with the corrosion inhibitor comprising a 50:50 blend of sodium benzoate and alkali metal sebacate. The inhibitor preferably comprises between 5% and 10% by weight of the impregnated fiber/filament.

Composition and method for preserving posttensioning cables in metal reinforced concrete structures

A corrosion inhibitor composition for use in combination with cathodic protection of metallic structures includes between about 5 and 80 percent by weight cyclohexylammonium benzoate; between about 1 and 10 percent by weight monoethanolammonium benzoate; between about 5 and 90 percent by weight dicyclohexylammonium nitrate; and up to about 5 percent by weight fumed silica, and may further include about 2 percent by weight tolyltriazole.

A composition and method for repairing metal reinforced concrete structures by applying a repair coating to surfaces of such damaged structures. The coating composition is a mortar/aggregate mixture blended with fiber reinforcements and containing a quantity of selected migratory corrosion inhibitors. These inhibitors are a mixture of sodium gluconate together with an auxiliary inhibitor consisting of sodium sebacate, potassium sebacate or ammonium benzoate. The fiber reinforcements consist of polypropylene or polyethylene, and are co-extruded with a quantity of the migratory corrosion inhibitors listed above.

Composition and method for repairing metal reinforced concrete structures

An oil-based corrosion inhibitor composition for use in lubricating and/or hydraulic oils includes an oil-soluble sulfonate salt, an imidazoline salt of a fatty acid or a poly acid, and a polymerized ester, with the corrosion inhibitor composition being diluted with a polyalphaolefin to a suitable viscosity for subsequent use as an additive to such oils. In preferred embodiments, the corrosion inhibiting additive composition is mixed with the lubricating and/or hydraulic oils at a concentration of between about 2&#x2013;5% by weight of the combination.

An environmentally friendly corrosion inhibiting formulation for the oil-water interface of pipe lines and oil well drilling systems which is prepared pursuant to a process including the steps of reacting an acid selected from the group consisting of a fatty acid anhydride and a 21 carbon dibasic acid with an amine or imidazoline to form a corrosion inhibitor consisting essentially of a fatty acid derivative; dissolving the inhibitor in a fatty acid oil or ester selected from the group consisting of soybean oil or methyl soya ester; adding water dispersing agents consisting of sulfonates and a long chain ethoxylated alcohol; and adjusting the viscosity with an alcohol comprising isopropanol.

Corrosion inhibitor barrier for ferrous and non-ferrous metals

Method and formulation for providing multiple sources of migratory corrosion inhibitors to metallic reinforcements embedded in concrete through addition of the inhibitors to the concrete mix. First and second sources of inhibitors are provided with the first source consisting of a powdered corrosion inhibitor consisting of sodium sebacate, potassium sebacate, dicyclohexylammonium nitrite, sodium nitrite, zinc gluconate, sodium gluconate, and calcium nitrite. The second source consists of an in-situ coextruded blend of a migratory corrosion inhibitor in a resin matrix, the second source consisting of a coextruded blend which includes an alkali metal salt of a dibasic acid containing from 8 to 12 carbon atoms together with migratory corrosion inhibitors consisting of alkali metal gluconates, zinc gluconate, and cyclohexylammonium benzoate, with the alkali metal in the inhibitors being sodium, potassium, or calcium. The total amount of corrosion inhibitor in concrete is between about 16 and 24 ounces per cubic yard, with the first source being between 70% and 80% by weight of the total corrosion inhibitor.
