A network node for a Frequency Division Duplex, FDD, wireless communication network is provided. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to determine a transformation matrix for transforming an uplink codebook to a downlink codebook where the transformation matrix is based at least in part on channel state information, CSI. The processing circuitry is further configured to determine a first uplink codebook based at least in part on uplink signals, determine a first downlink codebook based at least in part on the transformation matrix and the first uplink codebook, and cause transmission of downlink signals to a wireless device based at least in part on the first downlink codebook.

Codebook assisted covariance transformation in frequency division duplex (FDD) systems

A method and network node for beamforming a physical downlink shared channel and broadcasting a reference signal, the network node having N antenna elements and M reference signal ports, N being greater than M. A method includes assigning the M reference signal ports to M antenna elements of the N antenna elements. A reference signal is transmitted using the M antenna elements, the M antenna elements used to form a first beam sufficiently broad to broadcast the reference signal over a geographical area sized to support a plurality of wireless devices (WDs). A precoding matrix indicator is received from a first WD of the plurality of WDs, using the N antenna elements, signals received at the N antenna elements being weighted to form a second beam sufficiently narrow to enable spatial selection of the first WD of the plurality of WDs by the network node.

Reference signals ports extension for large antenna arrays

A method, network node, wireless device and system are provided. In one or more embodiments, the network node is configured to communicate with a wireless device. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to: determine to transition the wireless device to one of a beamforming mode and non-beam forming mode, in response to the determination to transition the wireless device, modify at least one measurement report trigger associated with the wireless device, and transmit an indication of the modification of the at least one measurement report trigger to the wireless device.

Systems and methods for outer loop Link Adaptation (LA) with bundled feedback are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a radio access node in a cellular communications network to provide outer loop LA includes receiving, from a wireless device, a bundled feedback acknowledging reception of data by multiple Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request HARQ) processes at the wireless device. The method also includes, in response to receiving the bundled feedback, updating an outer loop LA parameter based on the number of HARQ processes in the HARQ processes and/or a metric indicative of channel correlation for a channel from the radio access node to the wireless device.
