Herein is described a liquid electrostatic ink composition comprising a carrier liquid, a resin, a colorant selected from a magenta colorant, a cyan colorant and a black colorant, an amine-containing basic dispersant having a total base number (TBN) in the range of about 10 to about 65 mgKOH/g material, the amine-containing basic dispersant present in an amount from about 5 wt. % to about 40 wt. % by total weight of colorant.

Herein is disclosed an electrostatic ink composition, wherein the composition is formable by combining: chargeable particles comprising a resin comprising a polymer having acidic side groups, and a cyclic anhydride. Also disclosed herein is a method of forming an electrostatic ink composition, and a method of electrostatic printing.

Electrostatic ink compositions

Herein is disclosed an electrostatic ink composition, wherein the composition is formable by combining: chargeable particles comprising a resin, a charge director comprising a sulfosuccinate salt, and a non-polymeric, non-fatty acid having a pK, when measured in water at 20&#xb0; C., of at least 1. Also disclosed herein is a method of forming an electrostatic ink composition, and a method of electrostatic printing.

Herein is disclosed a magenta liquid electrostatic ink composition comprising chargeable particles comprising a resin, a pigment, a liquid carrier in which the chargeable particles are dispersed, and a charge director, wherein the resin is formable from polymerizing alkylene monomers and methacrylic or acrylic acid monomers, the pigment is selected from pigment violet 19 type &#x3b1;pigment violet 19 type &#x3b1;pigment violet 19 type &#x3b2;, pigment violet 19 type &#x3b3;, pigment red 177, pigment red 208, pigment red 122 and pigment violet 32, and the liquid electrostatic ink composition lacks any other types of pigment. Also disclosed herein is a method of electrostatic printing and a print substrate having printed thereon the magenta liquid electrostatic ink composition.

Herein is disclosed a magenta liquid electrostatic ink composition comprising a carrier liquid; and ink particles comprising a resin, a magenta pigment and a black pigment, wherein the black pigment is present in the composition in an amount of 0.01 to 0.5 wt % by total solids of the composition.

Described herein is a method for electrostatic printing including: (i) providing an ink composition having: a hydrocarbon carrier liquid and particles includes a resin and a colorant, and wherein the ink composition contains less than 0.3 mg of charge director per g of solids in the ink composition; (ii) adding a charge director to the ink composition, such that the total amount of charge director in the ink composition is at least 0.6 mg per g of solids in the ink composition, and, (iii) within a predetermined time of adding the charge director, printing the ink onto a print medium in an electrostatic printing process, wherein the predetermined time is 90 minutes or less.
