Nuclear reactor plant with closed gas coolant circuit

Disclosed is a power plant having a nuclear reactor as a heat source and turbine assemblies comprising turbine, compressor and heat exchanger elements. The nuclear reactor is encased within a thermal barrier which is encased within a liner so as to form a free space between the thermal barrier and the liner. The free space is in communication with a cooling gas source, and the interior of the thermal barrier is in communication with a gas source. Also disclosed is a method of cooling a nuclear reactor plant by passing a cooling gas into the free space between the liner and the barrier which is then passed to a recuperator after which it is passed within the thermal barrier surrounding the reactor.

Gas turbine power plant with closed gas circuit

Disclosed is a high temperature power plant construction, preferably a nuclear power plant, including a plurality of plant components comprising at least one gas-cooled high temperature source, contained in a sealed vessel, and a transport system, connecting the plant components, for gas of high temperature and high pressure, the improvement which comprises the gas transport system comprising at least one internally insulated hot gas transport conduit formed from a plurality of separate sections, a pressure jacket surrounding said hot gas transport conduit, at least one closed channel formed inside of the vessel for transporting a cool gas stream, and means for freely and removably mounting the hot gas transport conduit coaxially inside of the cool gas transport channel.

Conduit system for gases of high temperature and high pressure

Joints for high temperature and high pressure conduits are disclosed wherein two conduit members are joined in such a manner that permits axial and radial movement due to temperature variations therein while at the same time provides sealing of the joints by means of segmented sealing rings disposed in grooves and extending into a space defined by a sleeve-like extension on one conduit member and a bushing like extension on a second conduit member.

A cylindrically shaped prestressed concrete tank for a gas-cooled high temperature nuclear reactor plant includes a centrally located chamber for the reactor with a number of horizontally extending compartments located below the reactor chamber and at least two different groups of vertically extending compartments located radially outwardly from reactor chamber. The tank is prestressed by vertically extending tensioning elements and two different groups of horizontally extending tensioning elements. One group of horizontally extending tensioning elements extend chordally alongside and for the vertical range of the horizontal compartments and are anchored on the outer surfaces of the tank. The other group of horizontal tensioning elements are ring-shaped and extend in channels around the outer surface of the tank. This other group is located above and below the vertical range of the horizontal compartments.

Cylindrical prestressed concrete tank for a nuclear power plant

Disclosed is a nuclear power plant comprising a closed gas-cooling circuit and a plurality of identical, parallel-connected thermodynamic circuits (loops) symmetrically installed. Each of these loops constitutes a turbine assembly comprising a turbine and a compressor as well as devices for the internal and external heat exchange and is coupled with a nuclear reactor. The reactor is installed in the center of a cavern located in a vessel made of reinforced concrete, while the components comprising the circuit and the conduits connecting the various components are installed in cavities inside the reinforced concrete vessel. The turbine assemblies are located in horizontal shafts in the lower region of the vessel, and vertical shafts are provided for the gas transport pipes, which are arranged coaxially therein. These shafts and also pods for the heat exchange equipment are arranged symmetrically about the vessel axis.

Nuclear power plant with closed gas-cooling circuit comprising multiple

Disclosed is a nuclear power plant comprising a pressure-tight safety vessel surrounding the entire plant, an inner vessel of reinforced concrete, a high-temperature reactor contained in the inner vessel, a gas turbine assembly having a turbine and a high- and low-pressure compressor located in a horizontally oriented chamber below the reactor, a plurality of heat exchange units positioned in a plurality of vertically oriented pods spaced radially symmetrically about the reactor and suitable conduits for carrying the reactive gas between the system components. The conduits are arranged in generally horizontally and vertically oriented straight lines, and the conduits for carrying low-pressure gas comprise a horizontal system positioned beneath the turbine assembly having a plurality of coaxial connecting tubes, collectors and distributors as well as normal conduits, so that high pressure gas flows in the internal passage and low-pressure gas flows in the outer passage.
