A level comprising a level body and a bubble vial mounted on the level body. The bubble vial includes a bubble vial body comprising a clear material and an internal cavity containing a liquid. A top opening in the level body that interrupts at least a portion of a top wall to accommodate the bubble vial. An internal support structure disposed within the tubular configuration of the level body and spanning longitudinally along the level body so as to be disposed on both sides of the top opening to provide structural support to the level body in the vicinity of the top opening. A carrier positioned beneath the bubble vial and between the internal support structure and the bubble vial. The bubble vial body has a length that is less than a length of the top opening in the top wall of the level body.

Level and method of manufacturing same

A hand tool comprising a head portion, a shaft, and a grip component is provided. The grip component and the shaft form a handle of the hand tool. The grip component is a reverse-molded component formed by: forming the external portion of the grip component by molding a first thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material or thermoplastic urethane (TPU) material into a shell that surrounds a first cavity; after forming the external portion; placing the shaft into the first cavity; and, after the external portion is formed and the shaft is placed into the first cavity, forming the inner portion of the grip component by injecting a second TPE material or TPU material into the first cavity and onto the shaft. The first TPE or TPU material has a first level of hardness, and the second TPE or TPU material has a second level of hardness lower than the first level.

Grip component for a hand tool

A level comprising a level body and a bubble vial mounted on the level body is provided. A top opening in the level body interrupts at least a portion of a top wall of the level body to accommodate the bubble vial. An internal support structure is disposed within the tubular configuration of the level body and spanning longitudinally along the level body so as to be disposed on both sides of the top opening to provide structural support to the level body in the vicinity of the top opening. The internal support structure includes a base portion, a pair of legs extending upwardly from the base portion, and an opening disposed between the pair of upwardly extending legs. A carrier structure is disposed in the opening of the internal support structure and positioned beneath the bubble vial and between the internal support structure and the bubble vial.

A tape rule assembly includes a linear optical encoder for sensing human-readable graduations of length disposed on a surface of a tape, without requiring any other machine-readable indicia to be present on the tape. The optical encoder includes two optical sensors disposed in a sensor holder pivotably disposed in the tape rule housing and configured to be displaced relative to one another in the housing along both the 'x' axis and the 'z' axis, a set of intersecting &#x201c;x&#x201d;, &#x201c;y&#x201d; and &#x201c;z&#x201d; axes being defined relative to a tape exit in the tape rule housing.

A hand tool comprising a head portion, a shaft, and a grip component is provided. The shaft is attached to or integral with the head portion, and the grip component is disposed around the shaft. The grip component and the shaft form a handle of the hand tool. The grip component comprises an external portion molded from a first thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material or thermoplastic urethane (TPU) material, and an inner portion molded from a second TPE material or TPU material. The first TPE or TPU material has a first level of hardness, and the second TPE or TPU material has a lower level of hardness. The inner portion is disposed around the shaft, and the external portion forms a shell around the inner portion and is an exposed user contact surface. The grip component is attached to the shaft via at least a mechanical fastener.

A level comprising a level body, and at least one bubble vial mounted on the level body is provided. The level body has a generally tubular configuration including a top wall and a bottom wall generally parallel to one another, and a pair of spaced side walls; a top opening in the level body that interrupts at least a portion of the top wall to accommodate the at least one bubble vial; and an internal support structure disposed within the tubular configuration of the level body and spanning longitudinally along the level body so as to be disposed on both sides of the top opening to provide structural support to the level body in the vicinity of the top opening.

Carbon fiber composite level and method of manufacturing same

A chalk line device that includes a housing, a reel mounted for rotation within the housing, a liquid container disposed within the housing, and a handle connected with the reel and extending outside the housing is provided. The reel is constructed and arranged to carry a chalk line wound thereon. The reel is positioned in the liquid container such that the chalk line wound therein is at least partially submerged in the liquid chalk received in the liquid container. The liquid container has a sealed configuration and an unsealed configuration. In the unsealed configuration, the liquid container is configured to receive liquid chalk therein. In the sealed configuration, the liquid container substantially seals the liquid chalk received therein. The handle is operable to wind up the chalk line onto the reel.

A composite level and a method to manufacture the composite level are provided. A composite level can have three layers of material. A first layer comprises a glass-mat material, a second layer comprises carbon fiber, and a third layer comprises a glass fabric material. A composite level can also have only two layers of material. At least one bubble vial is mounted on the level body. The method to manufacture the carbon fiber composite level comprises a pultrusion process wherein a fiber glass material and carbon fiber are saturated with resin and molded into a final shape.

A T-square for measuring and marking a panel comprises a housing; a rule mounted to the housing and arranged to engage a flat surface of a panel; a blade guide for receiving a blade, the blade guide mounted on the rule; and two moveable arms coupled to the housing and arranged to engage an edge of the panel.
