A repeater comprises a plurality of donor antennas and a plurality of service antennas. The repeater comprises a plurality of signal processing paths each comprising a first transceiver coupled to at least one of the donor antennas, a second transceiver coupled to at least one of the service antennas, and a digital signal processor coupled to the first and second transceivers. A controller is coupled to the plurality of signal processing paths. The controller is adapted to configure the repeater for a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) operating mode and a carrier aggregation (CA) operating mode.

A non-invasive communication apparatus for a vehicle comprising glass includes a power transfer coupler configured to wirelessly supply vehicle-generated power, via the glass, to an external antenna assembly mounted to the vehicle. The power transfer coupler comprises a substantially transparent transmit coil disposed on an inside surface of the glass and a substantially transparent receive coil disposed on an outside surface of the glass adjacent the transmit coil. One or more information transfer couplers are configured to wirelessly communicate information signals to and/or from the antenna assembly via the glass. Each of the information transfer couplers comprises a substantially transparent first coupler disposed on the inside surface of the glass and a substantially transparent second coupler disposed on the outside surface of the glass adjacent the first coupler.

Non-invasive communication apparatus and method

This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to a distributed relay. The distributed relay may utilize beamforming and/or a specific physical arrangement of transmit and receive antennas to ensure a high isolation between antennas. The distributed relay may further facilitate the concurrent operation of two different intermediate frequency (IF) chains to support communications between a network entity and user device, receiving and transmitting data on each of the two IF chains independently of one another.

Techniques are disclosed for implementing am Intelligent Distributed Relay (IDR). The IDR may advantageously use the best qualities of both amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward solutions. The advantageously leverages the use of a digital signal processing (DSP) circuitry, which may decode the data and control information. The control information may be used to control IDR behavior (e.g., in the uplink and/or downlink directions) and to enhance its characteristics.

Intelligent distributed relay system

A lens antenna system is disclosed. The lens antenna system comprises a hybrid focal source antenna circuit configured to generate a source antenna beam for integration with different lens structures. In some embodiments, the hybrid focal source antenna circuit comprises a set of antenna elements coupled to one another. In some embodiments, the set of antenna elements comprises a first antenna element configured to be excited in a first spherical mode; and a second antenna element configured to be excited in a second, different, spherical mode. In some embodiments, the first spherical mode and the second spherical mode are co-polarized. In some embodiments, the lens antenna system further comprises a lens configured to shape the source antenna beam associated with the hybrid focal source antenna circuit, in order to provide an output antenna beam.

High performance lens antenna systems

A remote radio head as part of a small cell or home gateway communication system, comprising a baseband module and a radio unit, the baseband module and the radio unit being configured to be placed on opposing sides of a lossy medium, such as a window. The baseband module is configured to receive and transmit an information signal from a user equipment inside of a structure and the radio unit configured to receive and transmit an information signal from a user equipment or a base station node outside of the structure. The baseband module is further configured to perform signal modulation and demodulation and up-conversion and down-conversion, and the radio unit is configured to perform up-conversion and down-conversion. The baseband module and the radio unit are capable of receiving and transmitting wireless intermediate frequency signals through a lossy medium, so as to avoid signal attenuation, particularly for mmWave wireless signals.

5G mmWave wireless remote radio head system

Communication signals using a first and a second frequency band in a wireless network is described herein. The first frequency band may be associated with a first beamwidth while the second frequency band may be associated with a second beamwidth. An apparatus may include receiver circuitry arranged to receive first signals in a first frequency band associated with a first beamwidth and second signals in a second frequency band associated with a second beamwidth, the first signals comprising a frame synchronization parameter and the second signals comprising frame alignment signals. The apparatus may further include processor circuitry coupled to the receiver circuitry, the processor circuitry arranged to activate or deactivate the receiver circuitry to receive the frame alignment signals based on the frame synchronization parameter. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Wireless communication system to communicate using different beamwidths

The present disclosure relates to an antenna array arrangement including a plurality of antenna arrays. Each antenna array includes a plurality of antenna elements. At least two of the plurality of antenna arrays are staggered along at least one of a horizontal dimension or a vertical dimension. Adjacent elements of a projection of the antenna elements of the antenna array arrangement onto a horizontal dimension or a vertical dimension have a distance that is in the order of half of a wavelength of a radio signal to be transmitted from the antenna array arrangement.

Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques to dynamically configure a modular antenna array (MAA) for multiple independent uses. An MAA may include a plurality of antenna modules, each of the antenna modules comprising an array of antenna elements coupled to a radio frequency (RF) beamforming circuit, the RF beamforming circuit to adjust phase shifts associated with the antenna elements to generate an antenna beam associated with the antenna module, a dynamic configuration unit to receive an indication of a usage for a one of the plurality of antenna modules, and a main beamforming unit coupled to the dynamic configuration unit and each of the antenna modules, the main beamforming unit to generate signal adjustments relative to the one of the plurality of antenna modules to control the antenna beam associated with the one of the plurality of antenna modules based at least in part on the usage.

Apparatus, system and method of wireless backhaul and access communication via a common antenna array

Embodiments of a wireless station and method for controlling use of the 60 GHz band are described. The station (STA) can include memory and processing circuitry. The processing circuitry is configured to decode a packet received from a second STA via a microwave wireless channel. The packet includes information indicating that a millimeter wave wireless channel is unavailable for communication. A current geographic location and a mobility status for the second STA may be determined based on an authentication message originating from a third STA. The mobility status may indicate whether the second STA is moving or is stationary. The second STA may be authenticated based at least on the mobility status. Upon authenticating the second STA, usage of the millimeter wave wireless channel may be suspended for a pre-determined period of time.
