Improved catalytic reforming processes and systems employ reforming reactors in a more efficient manner and can avoid problems associated with yield loss. A portion of the naphtha feed is pre-reformed for conversion of paraffinic naphtha-range compounds into naphthenes and/or aromatics prior to passing to a reforming unit.

Catalytic pre-reforming process to convert paraffinic hydrocarbons

A reactor system for conducting multiple continuous reactions in parallel may include a preheating unit that includes an outer preheater shell and a plurality of heating tubes disposed within the preheating shell and arranged in parallel. The reactor system may include a reactor unit downstream of the preheating unit, the reactor unit comprising a plurality of reactor tubes disposed within a reactor shell and an outer heating element disposed about the reactor shell. An inlet end of at least one of the reactor tubes may be fluidly coupled to at least one of the heating tubes of the preheating unit. The reactor unit may include a multi-chamber separator downstream of the reactor unit, the multi-chamber separator having a plurality of separation chambers. At least one of the separation chambers may be fluidly coupled to at least one of the reactor tubes.

Multiple reactor system for parallel catalyst testing

Methods for processing paraffinic naphtha include contacting a paraffinic naphtha feedstock with a catalyst system in a dehydrogenation reactor. The catalyst system includes a framework-substituted ultra-stable Y (USY)-type zeolite to produce a dehydrogenated product stream. The catalyst system includes a framework-substituted ultra-stable Y (USY)-type zeolite. The framework-substituted USY-type zeolite has a modified USY framework. The modified USY framework includes a USY aluminosilicate framework modified by substituting a portion of framework aluminum atoms of the USY aluminosilicate framework with substitution atoms independently selected from the group consisting of titanium atoms, zirconium atoms, hafnium atoms, and combinations thereof. A dehydrogenation catalyst for dehydrogenating a paraffinic naphtha includes the framework-substituted ultra-stable Y (USY)-type zeolite.

Processes for catalytic reforming of a hydrocarbon feedstock may include contacting the hydrocarbon feedstock with catalyst in a first reforming unit to produce a first effluent and used catalyst. The method may further include passing a portion of the first effluent directly to a second reforming unit and contacting the first effluent with catalyst to produce a second effluent and used catalyst. The method may also include passing a portion of the second effluent directly to a third reforming unit and contacting the second effluent with catalyst to produce a reformate effluent and used catalyst. Additionally, the method may include regenerating at least a portion of the used catalyst to produce regenerated catalyst. The catalysts may each include regenerated catalyst.

Systems and processes for catalytic reforming of a hydrocarbon feed stock

A method for upgrading a petroleum feedstock using a supercritical water petroleum upgrading system includes introducing the petroleum feedstock, water and an auxiliary feedstock. The method includes operating the system to combine the petroleum feedstock and the water to form a mixed petroleum feedstock and introducing separately and simultaneously into a lower portion of an upflowing supercritical water reactor. The auxiliary feedstock is introduced such that a portion of a fluid contained within the upflowing reactor located proximate to the bottom does not lack fluid momentum. An embodiment of the method includes operating the supercritical water petroleum upgrading system such that the upflowing reactor product fluid is introduced into an upper portion of a downflowing supercritical water reactor. The supercritical water petroleum upgrading system includes the upflowing supercritical water reactor and optionally a downflowing supercritical water reactor.

Production of upgraded petroleum by supercritical water

The invention relates to a reforming catalyst. The reforming catalyst comprises a reforming metal, such as Pt, a support, such as an alumina support, and a USY zeolite, which has had part of its aluminum framework substituted with Zr and Ti. The amount of USY zeolite does not exceed 5 wt %, and most preferably, contains 2-3 wt % USY zeolite.

Modified USY-zeolite catalyst for reforming hydrocarbons

A stream of cracked naphtha is fractionated into at least four specified fractions defined by their respective boiling point ranges. The lightest fraction, IBP to 50&#xb0; C., is treated in a selective etherification or alkylation process to reduce its RVP value and increase its RON. The second fraction, 50&#xb0; C. to 150&#xb0; C., is selectively hydrogenated to treat and convert the diolefins present and the treated stream is sent directly to the gasoline blending pool since it has the desired RON and low sulfur content. The third, and optionally a fourth fraction, boiling in the range of 50&#xb0; C. to 180&#xb0; C., in an embodiment, are utilized for the production of aromatics and the raffinate stream, after aromatic extraction, is sent to the gasoline blending pool. A fraction of this latter stream can optionally be recycled for further cracking to produce additional aromatics and gasoline blending components. The heaviest fraction, 180&#xb0; C. to MBP, constitutes a relatively small volume and is hydrotreated at high pressure, and one portion of the hydrotreated stream is recycled to the FCC unit for further processing and the remaining hydrotreated portion is sent to the gasoline blending pool.
