A converter system for transferring power, including a first high voltage DC-DC module, a second high voltage DC-DC module, and a controller. The high voltage DC-DC modules are electrically separated, the first high voltage DC-DC module is connected to a first high voltage interface of a high voltage system and to a first low voltage interface of a low voltage system, and being of a first DC-DC module type, and the second high voltage DC-DC module is connected to a second high voltage interface of the high voltage system and to a second low voltage interface of the low voltage system, and being of a second different DC-DC module type. The controller is configured to control power supply via one of the high voltage DC-DC modules to the low voltage system in case of failure affecting the other one of the high voltage DC-DC modules.

Converter system for transferring power

An electric vehicle battery system is provided. In some embodiments, the electric vehicle battery system can comprise a battery pack comprising a first battery and a second battery. In various embodiments, a first bidirectional direct current to alternating current (DC-AC) converter can be electrically coupled to the first battery and to a first bidirectional high-voltage (HV) alternating current to direct current (AC-DC) converter. In various implementations, a second bidirectional DC-AC converter can be coupled to the second battery and to a second bidirectional HV AC-DC converter. In further embodiments, and a power factor correction AC-DC module can be electrically coupled to the first bidirectional HV AC-DC converter via a first switch and the second bidirectional HV AC-DC converter via a second switch.

On-board charger and DC-DC converter architecture for balancing of voltages or currents between batteries in electric vehicle battery systems

The present disclosure relates to a converter system for transferring electric power, a vehicle comprising such a converter system and a method for transferring electric power. The converter system comprises a first DC/DC converter module, a second DC/DC converter module and a control unit. The first DC/DC converter module is connectable to a first high voltage system and at least to a first low voltage system. The second DC/DC converter module is connectable to a second high voltage system and at least to the first low voltage system. The first DC/DC converter module comprises at least a first main DC/DC converter unit and a first micro DC/DC converter unit. The second DC/DC converter module comprises at least a second micro DC/DC converter unit. The first micro DC/DC converter unit and the second micro DC/DC converter unit are connectable via a first bidirectional switch unit. The control unit is configured to transfer the electric power from the first high voltage system to the first low voltage system via the first micro DC/DC converter unit, if the first main DC/DC converter unit is deactivated. The control unit is further configured to open the first bidirectional switch unit to transfer the electric power from the second high voltage system to the first low voltage system via the second micro DC/DC converter unit, if the first main DC/DC converter unit is deactivated and the first micro DC/DC converter unit has a failure.

The converter system includes a first DC-DC module, a second DC-DC module and a first control unit. The first DC-DC module is connected to a first high voltage interface of a high voltage system and to a first low voltage interface of a low voltage system. The second DC-DC module is connected to a second high voltage interface of the high voltage system and to a second low voltage interface of the low voltage system. The first high voltage interface and the second interface are independent of each other. The first control unit is connected to the first DC-DC module and configured to supply power via the second DC-DC module in case of a failure in the first DC-DC module.
