Modified chemical structures of cardanol extracted from cashew nut shell oil, and the use of the same to prepare imidazolium ionic liquids (IILs). The IILs can be used to prepare different types of silica, magnetite and calcium carbonate nanoparticles (NPs) as multifunctional oilfield chemicals for use in various oil spill collection, de-emulsification, viscosity improvement, asphaltene dispersant, and enhanced oil recovery applications.

Once the silver nanoparticles are obtained, methods of encapsulating these nanoparticles in a nanostructured lipid carrier are further contemplated. Once the encapsulated silver nanoparticles are formed, they can be used for various methods of treatment, including treating microbial infections, treating bacterial infections, and promoting wound healing.

Amino-rich anionic mesoporous silica (AMS) nanoparticles prepared through adding two different types of co-structuring directing agent (CSDA) molecules, thus increasing the amino amount within the AMS together with preserving ordered porous structure. Further boosting of amino amount can be accomplished through linking three different CSDA molecules together. Amino-functionalized mesoporous silica can be obtained with high amino amounts with linking either double or triple CSDA molecules while preserving ordered mesoporous structure and high textural properties.

Copper oxide nanoparticles prepared according to the method are effective photocatalysts for degrading organic dyes and antibacterial agents and exhibit anticancer activities.

The precipitate is removed by centrifuge, washed with ethanol, dried, and calcined at 400&#xb0; C. for 4 hours to obtain the copper oxide nanoparticles. The resulting nanoparticles proved effective in degrading wastewater dyes, showed anticancer activity against human cervical cancer by cell viability assay, and showed antibacterial activity against various strains of bacteria by agar diffusion.

The method of producing zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) using red sand includes mixing red sand with water to form an aqueous suspension of red sand, removing the supernatant from the suspension, centrifuging the supernatant and retaining a second supernatant from the centrifuged suspension, dissolving a solution of zinc nitrate in the second supernatant to form a precursor solution, and adding 1M NaOH dropwise to the precursor solution to precipitate the zinc oxide nanoparticles. The precipitate may be washed, dried and calcined to provide the red sand synthesized ZnO NPs. The red sand synthesized ZnO NPs have photocatalytic activity and can be used, for example, to degrade organic dyes in aqueous environments.

In an embodiment, the bio waste solution may be derived from fish scales.
