The present disclosure relates to cement compositions including Portland cement and volcanic ash. An exemplary cement composition includes about 10 wt % to about 85 wt % of Portland cement, and about 10% by weight of cement (BWOC) to about 70% BWOC of volcanic ash.

The LCM compositions may have a thickening time of from about 3 hours than about 6 hours by reaching a Bearden consistency of 100 Bc. Methods of eliminating or reducing lost circulation in a lost circulation zone from a well may include introducing these LCM compositions into the well.

The present disclosure concerns a cement dispersant for cement compositions wherein the cement dispersant is a polynaphthalene sulfonate salt having a weight average molecular weight of from 2500 g/mol to 3000 g/mol. The cement compositions are of from 10 weight percent to 70 weight percent of a cement precursor based on the total weight of the cement composition, from 5 weight percent to 70 weight percent water based on the total weight of the cement composition, and from 0.001 percent by weight of cement (BWOC) to 1.0 percent BWOC the cement dispersant. The cement dispersant provides improved rheological properties, allowing for good cement dispensing and increased presence of weighting agents.

A method of reducing lost circulation includes introducing a lost circulation solution comprising Saudi Arabian volcanic ash, a curing agent, and a resin into a subsurface formation through a wellbore, wherein the Saudi Arabian volcanic ash comprises SO, CaO, SiO, AlO, FeO, MgO, and KO; and allowing the lost circulation solution to thicken within the subsurface formation, thereby forming a barrier between the subsurface formation and the wellbore to reduce lost circulation.

Sealing composition for plugging and abandoning a wellbore and methods of plugging and abandoning a wellbore are disclosed. Embodiments of a method for plugging and abandoning a wellbore may include introducing a sealing composition into a wellbore and curing the sealing composition to form a plug. The sealing composition may include from 1 weight percent to 20 weight percent of a curing agent, based on the total weight of the composition, and from 20 weight percent to 97 weight percent of an epoxy resin system, based on the total weight of the composition. The epoxy resin system may include an epoxy resin having the formula (OCH)&#x2014;CH&#x2014;O&#x2014;R&#x2014;O&#x2014;CH&#x2014;(CHO), where Ris a linear or branched hydrocarbyl having from 4 to 24 carbon atoms; and a reactive diluent having the formula R&#x2014;O&#x2014;CH&#x2014;(CHO), where R is a hydrocarbyl having from 12 to 14 carbon atoms.

Sealing compositions and methods of plugging and abandoning of a wellbore

A cementing composition may include a sulfate-resistant cement and fly ash. The sulfate-resistant cement may contain calcium magnesium aluminum oxide silicate, brownmillerite, dolomite, periclase, and quartz. The composition may contain the fly ash in an amount in the range of 10 to 40 wt. %. The sulfate-resistant cement may contain the calcium magnesium aluminum oxide silicate in an amount of the range of 45 to 60 wt. %.
