An internally illuminated sign is capable of being mounted on a lighting track. The sign includes an adapter for mechanical and electrical connection to the lighting track. A display housing is connected to the adapter. The housing has a substantially vertical face with a message window in the face. A translucent message assembly is removably mounted in the housing adjacent to the window. The housing has a movable section selectively relocateable relative to the message window to provide access to the interior of the housing for selective insertion into or removal from the housing said message assembly. An illumination source is mounted in the housing adjacent to the side of the translucent message assembly positioned away from the window to enhance visibility of a message on the message assembly through the message window.

An internally illuminated sign includes an adapter for mechanical and electrical connection to a lighting track. A display housing is connected to the adapter. The display housing has a face with a message window in the face. A translucent message assembly is removably mounted in the housing adjacent to the window. An illumination source is mounted in the housing adjacent to the side of the translucent message assembly positioned away from the window to enhance visibility of a message in the message assembly. The display housing has a separable portion selectively relocatable relative to the remainder of the housing. Relocation of the separable portion away from the remainder of the housing provides access to the interior of the housing for selective insertion into or removal from the housing the message assembly. A lock releasably secures the separable portion to the remainder of the housing. An arrester is connected to the separable portion and the remainder of the housing to limit the spacing of the separable portion away from the remainder of the housing.

A plate closure for use in an internally illuminated sign having a plurality of wiring ports to provide access to the interior of the sign for connecting wires from a power source including a housing made up of a pair of interlockable halves. Each of the halves has a peripheral sealing lip opposed to the peripheral lip of the other half to form a peripheral housing wall. The housing wall has a pair of substantially parallel opposed end walls, a top housing wall and a bottom wall. A top wiring port is formed in the top wall. A left wiring port is formed in one of the end walls, and a right wiring port is formed in the other of the end walls. Each of the wiring ports provides a selective access to the interior of the housing to provide wiring for a light source. Each of the walls, having one of the wiring ports, has a mounting groove in a portion of the housing wall defining the wiring port. Each mounting groove extends into the respective wall and opens into the respective wiring port. A closure plate is removably mounted in each of selected wiring ports. Each closure plate has a flat plate body. Each plate body has a mounting tongue. Each mounting tongue has a protuberance on the surface thereof to provide an interference fit with a portion of a respective mounting groove to hold releasably the closure plate in the mounting groove.

A bar hanger used in a recessed light fixture assembly to support the assembly on a support member. The bar hanger has an elongated arm which has its length substantially greater than its width. A mounting ear is fixed on one end of the arm. The mounting ear is adapted to be connected to a fastener to secure the ear to a support member. The arm has a score extending across the length of the arm so that the arm may be selectively fractured at the score to shorten the length of the arm.

A connector is securely mounted on the end of a low voltage track. The connector is electrically connected to a pair of spaced conductive wires in the tracks. The conductive wires are separated in an insulator body. The insulator body has a pair of opposed inwardly extending edges. The terminal includes a base having a pair of opposed resilient side walls. Each of the side walls defines in part a respective longitudinal receptacle groove. Each receptacle groove is parallel to the other groove. A cantilever tongue is formed integral with the side walls and is substantially parallel to the grooves. The tongue is positioned between the opposed edges of the insulator body. The tongue has opposed portions positioned under the inwardly extending edges of the insulator body. A connector belt is positioned in each of the receptacle grooves. Each connector belt receives a wire from the low voltage track. A fastener is mounted in each of the connector belts for securing a respective wire in its connector belt and provides an electrically conductive connection between the belt and the wire.

A channel-shaped insulator is received in a channel-shaped metal track. First and second conductive bus bars are mounted in holders within the insulator, which has wall portions disposed between the track and the bus bars and affording spacing therebetween. The track is formed with first and second longitudinal grooves opposite the bus bars and affording additional spacing between the track and the bus bars. First and second longitudinal ridges are formed on the insulator opposite the first and second bus bars and extending into the grooves for engaging the track to maintain the additional spacing. The depth of the grooves preferably corresponds with the thickness of the wall portions of the insulator between the track and the bus bars. The height of the ridges preferably corresponds with the depth of the grooves. The provision of the grooves and the ridges may increase the minimum spacing between the metal track and the bus bars from 1/32 of an inch to 1/16 of an inch. Additional ridges preferably project from the insulator adjacent the first and second ridges, but spaced laterally therefrom, to prevent shifting of the insulator and to assist in maintaining the additional spacing. Three bus bars may be mounted in holders within the insulator to afford two separate electrical circuits. At least three ridges, are formed on the insulator to project into grooves opposite the bus bars. A fourth ridge is formed on the insulator opposite one of the bus bars to project into the corresponding groove.

A recessed light fixture assembly includes a plaster frame having a rectangular floor. A bar hanger bracket is supportably connected to each of two opposed edges of the floor. Each bar hanger bracket includes a support ledge supportably connected to its respective edge of the floor, and an upright sidewall formed integral with each support ledge. A bar hanger retaining finger is formed integral with each side of the sidewall. A pair of opposed retaining tabs is formed integral with each side of each sidewall and is spaced from the retaining finger on the respective side. A bar hanger including an elongated arm is positioned between each pair of retaining tabs and is thereby slideably connected to each bar hanger bracket and captured by the retaining finger. Each bar hanger has an elongated arm which arm has two assembly notches in one edge. The assembly notches of each elongated arm may be selectively aligned with respective retaining fingers to allow each bar hanger to be selectively connected or disconnected from its respective sidewall when the notches are aligned with their respective retaining fingers.
