The invention relates to an active implantable medical device comprising a processing unit able to be alternately operated during a predetermined period of activity and on standby during a standby period in a cyclical manner, and means for acquiring data relating to physiological and/or physical activity. The device also comprises means for calculating a frequency analysis of the data acquired, said calculating means being capable of successively perform part of the frequency analysis during periods of activity of the processing unit.

Active implantable medical device that can perform a frequential analysis

An active implantable medical device for neurostimulation therapy is disclosed. The device produces stimulation pulse sequences generated continuously in succession during activity periods separated by intermediate inactivity periods during which no stimulation is issued. An input signal, provided by a physiological sensor, representative of cardiac activity and/or of the patient's hemodynamic status is received by circuitry. The circuitry further provides for dynamic control of the neurostimulation therapy, wherein the length of activity periods is modulated based on the current value level of the control parameter compared to a threshold. The duration of the next period of inactivity is calculated by the circuitry at the end of each activity period to maintain a constant duty cycle ratio between periods of activity and periods of inactivity.

Active implantable medical device for nerve stimulation therapy with dynamic adjustment of stimulation periods

A vibrotactile stimulation device intended to be applied against a body environment (MC) to be stimulated and having a vibrating effector suitable for applying, to the environment, pulses of mechanical vibrational energy, and a controller controlling the effector according to stimulation rules. The device further includes vibration detector suitable for being exposed to the body environment in order to receive a part of the vibrational energy transmitted to the environment during the application of the pulses of vibrational energy, and determine a transmission characteristic of the vibrational energy between the effector and the environment to be stimulated, the vibration detector being linked to the controller. An application to improving the efficacy of body stimulation in combating sleep apnea is also disclosed.

Vibrotactile stimulation device

A treatment system for stimulating the vagus nerves is described, comprising the following elements: &#x2014;a detection and control unit (); &#x2014;at least one detection probe () connected to the detection and control unit and intended to be applied to at least one of the two vagus nerves of a patient; &#x2014;means () provided in the detection and control unit for detecting a phenomenon of mass discharge of action potentials in at least one vagus nerve using the detection probe or detection probes; &#x2014;stimulation probes () for stimulating vagus nerves, and&#x2014;means () provided in the detection and control unit that are capable, in response to the detection of a mass discharge, of applying predefined asymmetric stimulation signals to said stimulation probes capable of causing a depolarization and/or hyperpolarization of the vagus nerves and of blocking the conduction of the action potentials at least in the efferent direction. The system is intended for preventing the risk of sudden death in the event of an epileptic seizure in epilepsy patients.

A device for treating sleep apnea by discriminating between successive sleep stages of a patient includes a generator configured to produce stimulation pulses, a stimulator that receives the stimulation pulses produced by the generator and delivers stimulation to the patient, a sensor configured to measure a biological parameter of the patient, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine a state of the patient based on the biological parameter, perform a sleep analysis based on the state of the patient, activate the generator to trigger production of the stimulation pulses, determine a variation of the biological parameter subsequent to the production of the stimulation pulses, determine a response of the patient to the stimulation pulses according to the variation of the biological parameter, and determine a sleep stage of the patient based on the response.

Device for discrimination of stages of a patient's sleep

A system includes a processor configured to generate stimulation control signals in response to a detection of a respiratory disorder. The system further includes at least one kinesthetic effector with a vibrating electromechanical transducer applied to a site on a patient's skin for delivering a kinesthetic stimulation energy determined by the control signals. The processor is further configured to determine the effectiveness of a stimulation by detecting a cessation of the respiratory disorder. The processor is further configured to extend the stimulation control signals for a determined duration following the cessation of the respiratory disorder.

A device includes a processor configured to detect a respiratory disorder episode and generate kinesthetic stimulation control signals in response to the detection of a respiratory disorder episode. The device further includes at least one kinesthetic effector adapted to be applied to a patient's outer skin site and includes a vibrating electromechanical transducer capable of receiving stimulation control signals and outputting a kinesthetic stimulation energy determined by the stimulation control signals. The processor is further configured to determine the effectiveness of stimulation by detecting a cessation of the respiratory disorder episode. A system includes a processor configured to generate stimulation control signals in response to a detection of a respiratory disorder. The system further includes at least one kinesthetic effector with a vibrating electromechanical transducer applied to a site on a patient's skin for delivering a kinesthetic stimulation energy determined by the control signals. The processor is further configured to determine the effectiveness of a stimulation by detecting a disappearance of the respiratory disorder. The processor is further configured to determine a therapy by selecting a stimulation strategy among several stimulation strategies according to a type of expected or detected disorder.

A device for treating sleep apnea in a patient through stimulation. The device includes a generator configured to produce stimulation pulses, a stimulator that receives the stimulation pulses produced by the generator and delivers stimulation to the patient, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine a sleep state of the patient, adaptively control the generator based on the sleep state where the sleep state includes a plurality of sleep stages, and modulate a stimulation energy of the stimulation pulses produced by the generator based on the sleep stage of the patient.

Device for the treatment of sleep apnea syndrome in a patient by kinesthetic stimulation

The invention relates to an active implantable medical device. The device includes a VNS pulse generator, an activity sensor for detecting a patient's current activity level, and a processor. The processor is configured to collect the electrical activity of the heart, such as a current intrinsic heart rate of the patient. The processor further calculates values of a reference heart rate based on the patient's current activity level. A first histogram is constructed from the reference heart rate values, and a second histogram is constructed from the intrinsic heart rate values. An index representative of the patient's condition is derived by comparing the first and second histograms.
