Embodiments of organic peroxide formulations provide significant improvements in surface tackiness (often including tack-free surfaces) when curing elastomers in the presence of oxygen. The peroxide formulations may include, for example, one or more compounds selected from sulfur-containing compounds, organophosphite compounds, HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer) compounds, aliphatic allyl urethane compounds, and blends comprising nitroxides (e.g., 4-hydroxy-TEMPO) and quinones (e.g., mono-tert-butylhydroquinone).

Compositions and methods for crosslinking polymers in the presence of atmospheric oxygen

The use of magnesium oxide for increasing the rate of crosslinking and/or the crosslinking density of at least one crosslinkable polymer is described in addition to a composition that can be employed in this use, comprising: from 30 to 80% by weight of a crosslinking co-agent, from 0.5 to 10% by weight of an organic peroxide, from 15 to 60% by weight of magnesium oxide, and from 0 to 40% by weight of one or more crosslinkable polymers. An article obtained from this composition is also described.

The use of peroxide(s) for cross-linking at least one polymer, the polymer having a homopolymer or copolymer of ethylene and especially the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) or a mixture of the EVA with another homopolymer or copolymer of ethylene, and at least one peroxide, wherein the peroxide includes OO-tert-butyl O-isopropyl monoperoxycarbonate or OO-tert-amyl O-isopropyl monoperoxycarbonate and OO-tert-butyl-O-2-ethyl hexyl monoperoxycarbonate or OO-tert-amyl-O-2ethyl hexyl monoperoxycarbonate. Use of mixtures of monoperoxycarbonate peroxides for the cross-linking and composition of cross-linkable polymers

A primer mixture intended for crosslinking polyethylene, including at least an initiator of free radicals chosen from organic peroxides, azo compounds or mixtures thereof, wherein the mixture has said free-radical initiator and at least one crosslinking promoter chosen from the cycloalkanes having 5 to 7 carbon atoms, substituted by 1 to 3 vinyl, allyl or isopropenyl groups, the aromatic compounds substituted by 1 to 3 vinyl, allyl or isopropenyl groups, the methacrylate, acrylate and maleimide monomers being multi-substituted, and in that the weight ratio of free-radical initiator to the crosslinking promoter is greater than or equal to 1, and preferably between 1.5 and 4. An organic peroxide formulation includes at least one organic peroxide and at least one cellulose compound. Embodiments of the organic peroxide formulations significant improvements in surface tackiness (often including but not limited to tack-free surfaces) when curing elastomers in the presence of oxygen. Embodiments of the present invention relate to organic peroxide formulations that can cure solid elastomers in the full or partial presence of oxygen using, for example, a hot air oven or tunnel, molten salt bath, or steam autoclave. Embodiments of the invention also relate to crosslinkable elastomer compositions, processes for curing the elastomers, and products made by such processes.

The invention relates to a composition including at least one elastomer and at least one supramolecular polymer. The supramolecular polymer is obtained by the reaction of at least one trifunctional compound (A), having first and second functions, with: at least one compound (B) having at least one reactive group capable of reacting with the first functions of (A) and at least one associative group; and at least one at least bifunctional compound (C) having functions capable of reacting with the second functions of compound (A) in order to form ester, thioester and amide bridges.

Composition including a mixture of elastomer and supramolecular polymer

The invention relates to scorch prevention and, more specifically, to a composition which comprises a nitroxide and at least one organic peroxide and which can be used to delay scorching prior to crosslinking of thermoplastic compositions and/or elastomers.
