Example implants, systems and methods using sensors for orthopedic surgical assessment and/or planning are described herein. An example system can include a wearable sensor device for pre-operative use by a patient before an orthopedic surgery to generate pre-operative sensor data. The system can also include an implantable sensor device (e.g., a bone implant) to generate and aggregate post-operative sensor data associated with the patient after the surgery. The system can retrieve the pre-operative sensor data and the post-operative sensor data and predict, analyze or assess an outcome of the surgery.

Implants, systems and methods for surgical planning and assessment

Disclosed herein are bone plates, bone plate systems, and methods of use thereof that can include a bone plate that includes a plate frame and first and second anvils. The plate frame can have a first surface and define a first opening and a second opening. Each of the first and second anvils can include first and second plates, and a body located in between the first and second plates. The first plate can have a first surface arranged to rest against the first surface of the plate frame when the bone plate is implanted. The second plate can be sized to pass into each of the first and second openings. The body can define a through hole sized to receive a fastener. When the bone plate is implanted, the plate frame can be moveable relative to the first and second anvils.

Disclosed is an orthopedic measurement device. The orthopedic measurement device can comprise a tip section, a backend section, and a middle section. The tip section can have a distal end sized to fit into a hole drilled into a bone. The middle section can be located between the tip section and the backend section. The middle section can include a plurality of measurement features. Each of the plurality of measurement features can be a fixed distance from the distal end of the tip section. The middle section can be sized to fit into the hole drilled into the bone. The tip section, the backend section, and the middle section can define a cannula sized to receive a wire.

Measurement device and method for headless orthopaedic compression screws

A volar distal radius plate includes a shaft and a head. The head includes a radial side that seats below the volar rim, and an ulnar side with two extending tabs that provide a buttress support to ulnar fragments from the volar rim. The tabs are contoured to be atraumatic to the overlying soft tissue. The tabs can be readily re-orientated to better approximate the volar rim and provide close support to the volar fragments. Each tab includes a single hole specifically sized to closely receive a K-wire in a fixed angle orientation, and which permits the K-wire to apply a bending load to a tab in situ to bend the tab about a lower recess between the tab and the remainder of the head. Therefore, the plate does not require a dedicated bender. The tabs can also accommodate sutures.

Method of stabilizing a fracture at a metaphysis defining a concave articular surface

Implementations described herein include headless compression screws and corresponding systems. The headless compression screw has a shaft extending along a longitudinal axis from an insertion end to a driving end. The shaft includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion extends from proximate the insertion end to a first intermediate point and includes a first thread extending along at least a portion thereof that has a constant pitch. The second portion extends from proximate the driving end to a second intermediate point and includes a thread extending along at least a portion thereof that has a variable pitch that decreases from a first value proximate the second intermediate point to a second value proximate the driving end. Methods of reducing a fracture using headless compression screws are also described.

Headless compression screws are described. The headless compression screws include first and second ends coupled by a shaft, a first threaded portion positioned proximate the first end that surrounds the shaft and includes s first threads spaced apart from one another at a constant pitch, and a second threaded portion proximate the second end that surrounds the shaft and includes second threads. The second threads are spaced apart from one another at a variable pitch, such that distances between adjacent threads of the second threaded portion decrease as distance from the second end decreases. Methods of reducing a fracture using headless compression screws are also described.

A bone plate a re-orientable tab that provides a buttress support to fragments of the surrounding concave joint rim. The tabs can be re-orientated to contact the rim to provide close support. Each tab includes a hole sized to closely receive a K-wire to permit the K-wire to apply a bending load to a tab in situ to bend the tab about a lower recess between the tab and the remainder of the head. A soft tissue anchor is sized to pass through the hole in the tab, and into a hole drilled into the underlying bone. The soft tissue anchor has a bone engaging first portion and second portion comprising a length of flexible suture, to which is affixed a needle. The needle and suture can be used to draw tissue about the joint capsule.

A bone plate system for the internal fixation of metacarpal and phalanx fractures of the hand is provided. The plates are structured to permit independent reconfiguration of holes of the plates relative to a longitudinal axis and are configured to orient fasteners to interdigitate with holes displaced along the longitudinal axis. The plates are very thin, and a locking screw with a low profile head design is provided for use therewith.

A low profile bone screw system includes a retainable washer and a low profile bone screw having a smooth conical head for insertion into the washer. The washer has an axial bore with a conical portion for fully seating the screw head and a smooth outer surface shaped like the head of a conventional compression bone screw head. The present invention is directed to a prosthesis and method for treating, repairing, and/or replacing an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The prosthesis includes a coiled stent comprised of shape memory material having first and second anchoring zones and an intermediate zone. The prosthesis also includes graft material engaging at least a portion of the stent. During delivery of the prosthesis, the stent is in a substantially straight longitudinal configuration, and after delivery of the prosthesis the stent is returned to a coiled configuration. The diameter of the prosthesis may be adjusted by controlling the degree to which the stent is coiled.

Plate shaping tools may be attached to a plate having pre-assembled guides while the plate is located on the bone to effect alteration of the plate shape in an effective and precise manner. The tools are designed such that a drill and K-wires can be inserted through the guides while the tools are coupled to the guides. In accord with tools disclosed and methods described, the plates are reconfigurable in shape.
