The present disclosure relates to using monomer-based heteropolymers to create random heteropolymers that act as biomimetic catalysts that can be evolved to mimic activities of different classes of natural enzymes. The random heteropolymers comprise a mixture of heteropolymer sequences wherein a portion of the heteropolymers comprise a catalytically active region similar to that of a naturally occurring enzyme active site.

The application of oscillating electric fields is used to improve the ionic transport properties of polymer electrolytes by reducing the apparent hopping barrier of the lithium ions within the electrolyte material. Polymer-electrolyte-based battery cells exhibiting enhanced ion mobility due to the application of such oscillating electric fields.

Battery systems and methods for accelerating ion diffusion in polymer electrolyte materials

Systems and methods are provided for detecting or measuring binding affinity between different compositions. The methods include contacting one or more magnetic beads having a surface including a first composition with a substrate having a surface including a second composition; applying a rotating magnetic field to the one or more magnetic beads effective to cause the one or more magnetic beads to move across the surface of the substrate; measuring the movement of the one or more magnetic beads across the substrate surface to determine a translational velocity; and determining a binding affinity between the first and second compositions from the translational velocity.
