A plunger stopper () configured for attachment with a plunger rod () for use with a within a syringe barrel for high dose accuracy drug delivery. The stopper having a first portion () formed from a first material and a second portion () formed from a second material, wherein the second material has a greater rigidity than the first material and wherein the second portion is configured to be attached to a plunger rod. The second material can be in the form of an insert () which functions to reduce the amount of distortion of the stopper during use, reduce air bubble size variation from fill to fill, maintain a seal with the inner wall of the syringe barrel with lower contact pressure in a resting state and reduce the amount of hysteresis of the stopper. The stopper can be adapted for use with infusers, pens, and other types of auto-injectors.

A syringe assembly () has a syringe barrel (), a plunger rod () and stopper () where the syringe barrel has an open end receiving the plunger rod and stopper in a sliding direction. The plunger rod includes a shaft () having a longitudinal axis with a first end having a coupling member () for coupling with the stopper. The shaft has a least one plunger rod support () extending radially outer from the shaft and spaced from the first end for cooperating with an inner surface of the syringe barrel () to resist lateral movement and tilting of the plunger rod relative to the longitudinal axis of the axial passage of the syringe barrel. The shaft in one embodiment has at least two spaced apart points of support () and () for maintaining the axis of the plunger rod on axis with the syringe barrel to limit twisting and tilting of the stopper thereby resisting distortion of the stopper that can cause leakage.

A method of preparing a glass medical container is provided including the steps of providing a glass blank and forming a channel through a part of the glass blank, the channel being substantially free of tungsten or derivatives thereof. In a further aspect of the subject invention, a glass medical container is provided including a glass body having a channel extending through a part of the glass body, the channel being substantially free of tungsten or derivatives thereof. With the subject invention, tungsten or derivatives thereof can be generally or altogether completely avoided in glass medical containers.

A shieldable unit dose needle assembly including a needle holding member, a unit dose needle, a shield in pivotal engagement with respect to the needle, and a collar providing pivotal engagement between the needle and the shield. The shield is pivotally movable between a retracted position and a shielded position in which a portion of the shield encompasses the unit dose needle for safety purposes. The needle holding member includes a distal end having a male tapering surface. The collar further includes a proximal end having a female tapering surface in engagement with the male tapering surface of the needle holding member.

A medical needle device which is reusable and cooperates with a disposable needle assembly. The medical needle device includes a holder, a needle assembly, and an ejector rod cooperating with the holder. The needle assembly includes a needle hub and needle. The holder has a proximal end and a distal end and defines an opening extending therethrough. The distal end has a hub socket for receiving the hub of the needle, with the needle hub received in the socket. The ejector extends into the opening from the proximal end of the holder. The ejector rod is slidably received in the holder and has a distal end configured to engage the needle hub, and a proximal end extending outward from the holder. The ejector rod is used to eject the needle assembly from the holder.

Methods and apparatus for collecting and processing tissue to produce an endothelial cell product having a vessel for rinsing, draining, digesting and isolating tissue. The vessel has a rinsing and digesting chamber for containing tissue during processing. An inlet in the rinsing and digesting chamber allows entry of rinsing solution and tissue from a liposuction device. A waste chamber in fluid communication with the rinsing and digesting chamber preferably connects with a vacuum source. An isolation chamber is separated from the rinsing and digesting chamber by a screen. An ampule in fluid communication with the isolation chamber includes a pair of ports controlled by valve devices to be selectively in fluid communication with the isolation chamber. After processing, the ampule isolates a pellet of endothelial cells and the valve devices permit the pellet to be in fluid communication with the ports. The method includes providing the vessel, introducing tissue to be processed, orienting the vessel to screen the tissue, introducing an enzyme and agitating to digest the tissue, centrifuging the vessel to transfer the cells from the digested tissue, and isolating the cells for retrieval.

A package assembly for an article comprises first and second housing portions each having a flange around a periphery thereof. The flanges are positioned adjacent to and in engagement with each other. The housing portions together define a compartment. An article is included within the compartment. A removable securing tube is positioned on the flanges for causing positive engagement therebetween to thereby maintain the housing portions together. Retaining dimples or like detents are included on either flange for maintaining the securing tube in position over the flanges.
