An antifriction bearing includes a plurality of rolling elements each having a lateral surface possessing a conical shape, with the rolling elements being positioned between a conical raceway and a cylindrical raceway to roll along the conical raceway and the cylindrical raceway. The lateral surface of each rolling element forms an angle with a center axis of the rolling element that is 3&deg; at maximum, and the lateral surface of each rolling element has a convex curvature that is superimposed on the conical shape. The bearing can also include a first bearing ring having a running surface constituting one of the conical and cylindrical raceways. An antifriction bearing arrangement incorporating such an antifriction bearing is also provided with a stop element having a stop face contacting the end face of each of the rolling elements.

A process for producing a sheet metal cage for roller bearings involves using a press roll to form a disk-shaped circular sheet metal blank into a tubular element having radially inwardly projecting and axially extending ribs, and stamping window-shaped pockets into the tubular element between adjoining ribs to produce a cage of a rolling bearing for receiving rolls in the window-shaped cutouts. The sheet metal cage produced by the method possesses a conically rolled outer surface and side rings arranged at opposite ends. The cage includes ridges extending between the side rings and window-shaped pockets between adjacent pairs of ridges for receiving tapered rolls. The cage also includes ribs extending inwardly from each of the ridges, with the ribs possessing tapering side surfaces.

Solid cage for roller bearings

A rolling bearing having separated bearing ring having held together by a dimensionally stable holding ring tightly fit over the ends of the ring halves. The axial holding of the ring halves is effected by a row of snap elements distributed about the circumference of the holding ring, the snap elements extending into annular grooves adjacent the ends of the ring halves. The snap elements are joined to the surface of the holding ring to enable bending at the joints thereof.
