A pavement-vehicle convoy for applying a cover layer of a paving material on a traffic area, such as a roadway. The convoy has at least two independently driven units with at least one of the units being a road-surface finisher and each other unit in the convoy being either a finisher or a charger. One of the units is a command unit that has a remote control used to help maintain a predetermined desired longitudinal distance between the convoy units and which can be used to help maintain a predetermined desired lateral distance from a reference line. The remote control includes a speed correcting device that utilizes signals from a distance sensor on at least one of the units that is used to detect changes from the desired distance so that speed correction signals can be generated and provided to an operation control device on at least one of the units. A remote-control link is provided between the operation control device of the command unit and the operation control device of other convoy units so that operation-related signals can be communicated to a master travel controller that controls a travelling mechanism of the command unit and a travelling mechanism of the other convoy units. Control preferably is effected from the driver's cabin of the command unit to the driver's cabin and operation control device of all other convoy units.

In a slip-form paver for road constructions of concrete, at least one transverse distribution means, at least one stripper device, one slip form and at least one concrete paving screed are arranged on a support frame, said concrete paving screed being a high-compaction paving screed which is floatingly hinged by means of at least two extension bars, which are located approximately in parallel with the base course, to pulling points of the support frame which are positioned in the traveling direction at a distance in front of the high-compaction paving screed.

A road finisher, which is used for simultaneously applying at least two surface layers comprises a chassis, a travelling mechanism, at least two premix containers arranged on said chassis, a lateral distributor associated with the respective premix container and adapted to have material supplied thereto via a conveyor path extending in the chassis, and lateral outriggers attached to the chassis as well as a dragged road-surface applying device used for applying a surface layer and arranged on said outriggers, all road-surface applying devices being high-compaction road-surface applying screeds for recompaction-free application of a surface layer, and each high-compaction road-surface applying screed constituting a rear screed, when seen in the direction of movement, which is constructed as a high-compaction road-surface applying screed which is adapted to be used for applying and compacting concrete. In the method of applying surface layers by use of such a road finisher, the surface layers are applied one immediately after the other and in one operation in such a way that each first surface layer is highly compacted during application to such a degree that recompaction is no longer necessary and each following surface layer is applied to the highly-compacted surface layer and then, in turn, highly compacted to such a degree that recompaction is no longer necessary.

Road finisher and a method of applying surface layers

A road finisher comprising a chassis is described, the chassis being movable on a travelling gear and carrying a front stock hopper, a primary drive unit an incorporated secondary drive units. The road finisher is provided with a paving screed which is dragged at the rear and which is articulated on the chassis via laterial outriggers, as well as with a lifting device which is provided between the chassis and the outrigger and by means of which the paving screed can be moved to a transport position raised from the ground. The troublesome influence of the paving screed when the road finisher travels for the purpose of transportation is reduced or eliminated to a large extent in the case of such a road finisher. For this purpose, the road finisher is provided with a dynamic absorber system comprising an actuable support for the paving screed occupying the transport position, the support being elastic relative to the chassis and effective in the lowering direction, as well as an absorber mass defined by the paving screed.

Road finisher

The present invention refers to a method for controlling the vertical adjustment of a levelling and compacting plank drawn by a road-construction machine. During the working procedure the level of the plank, which is in floating contact with the material, is adjusted automatically. The present invention aims at preventing undesirable lifting of the plank caused by material which is located ahead of the plank and the flowability of which was changed due to an interruption in the motion of the machine. Hence, the invention employs the feature that, when the travelling mechanism is switched on, lifting of the plank, which is blocked against lowering when the machine is standing still, is blocked as well and that the blocking is eliminated only after a predetermined period of time.
