Swaging machine

A swaging machine (,) comprises hammering units (,) vertically movably guided in radial recesses (,) of a forging box (,) rotatably and drivably mounted about the axis of movement (A) and pressure members supported on a coaxial supporting ring (,) surrounding the forging box (,), where the forging box (,) and/or the supporting ring (,) can be driven so as to rotate relative to each other, and during the respective passage the pressure members act on the hammering units (,) whose head portions protrude into the path of rotation of the pressure members, in the sense of an inwardly directed pressure pulse. To achieve a rugged, hard wearing lifting drive, the pressure members are comprised of a pressure plate (,), which like a rocker is pivotally mounted at a plunger (,) non-rotatably seated in the supporting ring (,) so as to be swivelled in a stop-limited way about a rocking axis (B) parallel to the axis of movement (A), and as head portion the hammering units (,) have a counter-pressure plate (,) associated to the pressure plates (,), which like a rocker can be swivelled in a stop-limited way about a rocking axis (C) parallel to the axis of movement (A), where pressure plates (,) and counter-pressure plates (,) form cooperating slide faces (,) and via restoring springs (,) can be pressurized in the direction of a starting position forwardly inclined with respect to the respective relative rotation (R) of forging box (,) and supporting ring (,).

A swaging machine (1) for swaging rod-shaped workpieces (W) has a ring-shaped forging box (3) supported in a machine frame (2) so as to be driven and rotated about the travel axis (A) of the workpiece (W), where in radial recesses (4) of the forging box forging punches (5) are accommodated which act against each other and can be lifted via a lifting drive (7) while the forging box rotates at the same time. To ensure swaging with a non-rotating workpiece (W) subjected to a pure longitudinal feed, the forging punches (5) are supported in the recesses (4) of the forging box (3) via pivotally mounted longitudinal guideways (13), and oscillating movements with a direction of movement lying in a normal plane (N) with respect to the travel axis (A) can be superimposed on the lifting movements of the forging punches (5) for swinging back the associated forging tools (6) relative to the forging box (13) during their contact with the workpiece at an angular velocity corresponding to the angular velocity of the rotation of the forging box, but directed in the opposite direction.

A forging machine (1) comprises at least two forging punches (5) acting against each other and longitudinally guided in a machine frame (2), which each have separate stroke drives (9) and stroke position adjusting means (10). To make the forging machine (1) suitable for a large forging range with a simple design, each forging punch (5) together with longitudinal guideway (8) and stroke position adjusting means (10) and the associated stroke drive (9) are combined to a forging unit (3) and disposed in a separate housing (7), which is pivotally or movably mounted in the machine frame (2) and for adjustment is supported on an actuator (11).

For controlling the stroke frequency of a forging machine (1), which comprises a mechanical stroke drive (3) for the stroke movement of the forging punch (2) and a hydraulic drive connection (4) between stroke drive (3) and forging punch (2), the rotational speed of the stroke drive (3) is adjusted to a high stroke frequency of the forging punch (2), and for reducing the stroke frequency the hydraulic pressure of the drive connection (4) is decreased for periodically succeeding drive strokes in accordance with the drive-related increase with constant rotational speed of the drive (3), while at the same time the forging punch (2) is preferably blocked in the vicinity of the upper dead center. For this purpose, the drive connection (4) is connected to an accumulator (20) via a control valve (23) to be actuated in dependence on the stroke movement.

A swaging machine is provided with connecting rod-like swaging hammers, which are driven by eccentrics and radially guided in a machine frame with respect to the axis of the eccentric shaft and for a driving connection are provided at that end which faces the eccentric with a sliding surface in sliding contact with a slide ring that surrounds and is rotatably mounted on the eccentric. A particularly simple design of the machine is achieved in that radially inner end of the hammer and the slide ring are merely non-positively coupled and a compression spring means supported against the machine frame apply pressure to the swaging hammer and urge the sliding surface at the radially inner end of the hammer against the slide ring.
