A method of sending information to a radio access node (RAN) of a first radio access technology (RAT) regarding one or more coexisting RAN's of a second RAT is provided. In particular, the information comprises a number of parameters and operating modes used by the one or more coexisting radio access nodes.

Method and apparatus for facilitating network coexistence

Methods and systems for multi-protocol transmissions in shared spectrum are disclosed. According to principles described herein, a wireless transmitter is configured to generate subcarriers or symbol information from one OFDM technology using subcarriers of another OFDM technology. With this approach, a wireless transmitter configured to transmit OFDM symbols using subcarriers and a subcarrier frequency spacing associated with one OFDM protocol can also be configured to transmit OFDM symbols associated with another OFDM protocol which normally uses different subcarriers and a different subcarrier frequency spacing. In one application, an LTE transmitter uses LTE subcarriers to generate 802.11 (e.g. Wi-Fi) subcarrier or symbol information that can be understood by Wi-Fi receivers, for example to reserve the channel for a certain duration, to indicate a transmission time associated with an on-going and/or upcoming symbol transmission or to create a carrier sense indication, for example, to cause Wi-Fi receivers and other radio technologies to consider the channel as busy.

Method and system for multi-protocol transmissions

Embodiments of systems and methods enabling a node of a first Radio Access Technology (RAT) to detect (co-channel) frames and/or Access Points (APs)/nodes of a second RAT using receiver hardware of the first RAT are disclosed. While not being limited thereto, in some embodiments, the first RAT is Long Term Evolution (LTE) and the second RAT is Wi-Fi, and systems and methods are disclosed that enable a LTE node (e.g., an LTE Radio Access Network (RAN) node such as a base station or a low power node operating in an unlicensed frequency band) to detect Wi-Fi preambles and/or Wi-Fi beacons (and thus the number of co-channel Wi-Fi APs).

Systems and methods for detecting nodes or signals of a radio access technology (RAT) by a node of another RAT

It is presented a method of allocating resources of a first uplink subframe being part of a radio frame, each resource being a combination of a frequency range, and a time slot and a code. The method is performed in a network node and comprises: determining a first set of resources allocated for Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request, HARQ, feedback in the first uplink subframe; determining a second set of resources allocated for HARQ feedback in a second uplink subframe being part of the radio frame; identifying free resources in the first uplink subframe by identifying resources of the second set of resources which have no correspondence in the first set of resources; and allocating when a free resource is found, at least part of the free resources to a use other than HARQ feedback. A corresponding network node is also presented.

Method and network node for allocating resources of an uplink subframe

According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method is implemented by a network node in relation to a basic service set (BSS) that includes an access point providing a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The network node predicts a downlink data rate for downlink transmissions from the access point to a particular UE based on either signal qualities of a first set of uplink transmissions which are sent from the particular UE to the access point or a default signal quality value. The UE is either already part of the BSS or is being evaluated for admission to the BSS. The predicted downlink data rate is weighted by a metric that accounts for channel conditions of the BSS to determine a predicted downlink throughput for downlink transmissions from the access point to the particular UE. The predicted downlink throughput is used for controlling the BSS.
