An apparatus () for providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation by applying compressions to a chest of a patient (P). The apparatus () comprising a chest compression unit (), in particular comprising automatic actuation, at least one band () to be passed around the patient's chest for maintaining the chest compression unit () in position on the patient's chest. At least one end of the band () is releasably connectable to the unit () or another band. The apparatus () is designed for pushing the band () underneath the patient's chest, in particular on the side where the patient contacts the ground (G). The apparatus () comprises or is connectable to an application aid (), in functional connection with the band (), fixable to or movable relative to the band and adapted to support pushing the band () underneath the patient's chest. The application aid is stiffer than the band.

Method and device for producing a helper signal

An arrangement for measuring the blood flow from a multitude of individual flow measuring units (,&prime;) arranged next to one another. The multitude of individual flow measuring units arranged next to one another permit a quick placing on of the measuring arrangement. Independently of the exact location on the human body on which the measuring arrangement is placed, always one artery, in particular the carotid artery lies neighbouring at least one of the flow measuring units.

Measuring arrangement

A device for measuring the resistance of the respiratory tract with the interrupter method consists essentially of a housing (2) which comprises an air passage (3), and of a closing arrangement (5) for temporarily closing the air passage (3). The closing arrangement (5) may be operated via drive means (8). The drive means (8) are arranged and/or designed such that they can be accelerated in a load-free manner from a rest position (R) into an effectual condition (W). In the effectual condition (W) the drive means (8) engages with the closing arrangement and move the latter from a home position (A) into a closing position (V). With this, it is essential that at the point in time of the coming into engagement of the drive means (8) and the closing arrangement (5), the drive means has a certain energy content.
