A method of monitoring a condition prevailing inside a piping system with respect to an impairment due to accretion, abrasion or corrosion caused by fluid(s) flowing through the piping system is disclosed, comprising the steps of: installing at least two measurement devices susceptible to an impairment and configured to measure variables indicative of the impairment; wherein the measured variables include at least two variables exhibiting a different dependency on the impairment; continuously recording data including time series of measured values of the variables measured; based on training data included in the data determining a dynamic reference behavior of the variables corresponding to time dependent distributions of values of the variables to be expected of the measured values when the measurement devices are unimpaired; repeatedly determining a deviation between a monitored behavior of the measured values of the variables and the reference behavior.

A method includes: determining a wall temperature of a wall enclosing a lumen of a flow line; determining a density, a viscosity, a thermal conductivity, a thermal capacity, and a pressure differential of a medium to be measured flowing in the line; determining a characteristic number value for the medium, which characterizes a heating of the medium flowing in the line as a result of dissipation and is a function of an Eckert number, a Prandtl number, and a pressure loss coefficient of the line as well as line-specific first, second and third exponents; and determining a temperature of the medium using the characteristic number value and the wall temperature. A measuring system for the method includes: a temperature sensor thermally coupled to a lateral surface of the wall and configured to generate a temperature measurement signal; and an operating electronic system electrically connected to the temperature sensor.

The measuring system comprises a vibration-type measuring sensor, a sensor housing, a magnetic-field detector, and measuring-system electronics electrically coupled both to an oscillation exciter and to oscillation-sensing devices of the measuring sensor. The measuring sensor is inside the sensor housing and the magnetic-field detector is outside the sensor housing. The magnetic-field detector is designed to convert changes in the magnetic field into a magnetic-field signal having an amplitude dependent on a magnetic flux through the magnetic-field detector and/or on an area density of said magnetic flux. The transformer circuit generates an electric driver signal and feeds electric power to the exciter assembly.
