An apparatus for damping spring-mounted wheel suspension systems is disclosed as having a cylinder filled with damping medium. The cylinder is divided by a piston on a piston rod into two work chambers. The two work chambers are connected to one another by damping valves and an additional fluid connection. The additional fluid connection is provided with a non-return valve between the two work chambers. The non-return valve has an actuator which can be switched as desired inside a valve device. The valve device has a damping force adjustment which acts in opposite directions for the two directions of flow. At least one non-return valve is dependent on the direction of flow and is provided with resistance. The non-return valve is moved into its operating position by the actuator.

Vibration damper or shock absorber having apparatus for damping

Elastomeric bearing, consisting of an outer cover, at least one rigid intermediate body and a support body, whereby a suspension element is always located between two neighboring bodies. The suspension elements have different suspension characteristics in the radial and axial direction as well as different damping characteristics and can be adjusted using a controllable switch apparatus. It should be possible to precisely control an individual suspension element to produce different suspension and damping characteristics.

Adjustable elastomeric bearing having a plurality of suspension elements

An adjustable vibration damper is for a motor vehicle or the like. The vibration damper includes a cylinder containing a damping medium. A piston is disposed within the cylinder for movement of the damping medium. A valve device is connected to the cylinder for flow of the damping medium therethrough. The valve device has at least a first damping element and a second damping element. The first damping element includes a first compression valve assembly and a first decompression valve assembly. The second damping element includes a second compression valve assembly and a second decompression valve assembly. The first compression valve assembly, the first decompression valve assembly, the second compression valve assembly, and the second decompression valve assembly have respective damping characteristics. There is included switching apparatus for selectively switching to at least one of the first and the second damping elements to select the respective damping characteristics thereof.

Adjustable vibration dampers for motor vehicles

Shock absorber for vehicles, in which there is a damping element, which has a work cylinder holding a damping medium and divided into two work chambers by a piston, whereby at least partly to control the damping force, an electromagnetically activated and axially moving valve body of a valve pressurizes a flow passage. A variable damping adjustment becomes possible, and by means of a variably controlled damping valve, any desired adjustable damping of the decompression and compression stage can be achieved. In addition, by varying the effective hydraulically-influenced functional surfaces of the valve body, the switching, frequency, closing and opening action of the valve body, designed as the armature of an electromagnet, can be influenced. A seat surface is oriented together with the end surface of the valve body, whereby at least a portion of the end surface of the valve body and of the valve seat are located at a distance from one another. Varying the effective hydraulically-influenced functional surfaces of the valve body, the switching, frequency, closing and opening action of the valve body, can be influenced. This configuration makes is possible to achieve a partial pressure reduction influencing the valve body in the area of the valve seat.

Hydraulic adjustable shock absorber

Shock absorber for motor vehicles, on which there is a damping element, which exhibits a working cylinder to hold a working medium, divided by a piston into two working chambers, whereby an electromagnetically-activated and axially-movable valve body of the valve pressurizes a flow passage, at least partly to control the damping force. The object of the invention is to make possible a variable damping adjustment, whereby by means of a variably-controllable damping valve, an adjustable damping of the decompression and compression stages can be achieved. In addition, by variation of the effective hydraulically-influenced functional surfaces of the valve body, the switching, frequency, closing and opening action of the valve body, designed as the armature of an electromagnet, can be influenced. The object is achieved by the formation of a valve seat by a seat surface oriented at approximately right angles to the valve body, together with the end surface of the valve body and of the valve seat are at a distance from one another. As a result of this configuration, a partial pressure reduction can be achieved in the vicinity of the valve seat, which influences the valve body.

A vibration damping system for vehicles, with a damping element in a cylinder. The cylinder holds a damping medium and is divided into two chambers by a piston. A damping valve, located in a bypass, is connected parallel to the work cylinder. The damping valve variably controls damping to any desired damping in the decompression and compression stages of operation of the vibration damping system. The damping valve has an axially-movable, controllable valve being disposable in an opening. The controllable valve is connected in a series fluid flow relationship with at least one pressure-controlled, spring-loaded valve within the same valve body. The damping valve can be installed in numerous variations in vibration damping systems of vehicles.
