The present invention relates to a crystalline form of 2-chloro-5-[3,6-dihydro-3-methyl-2,6-dioxo-4-(trifluoromethyl)-1-(2H)pyrimidinyl]-4-fluoro-N-[[methyl(1-methylethyl)-amino]sulfonyl]benzamide. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of this crystalline form and to plant protection formulations which comprise this crystalline form of the phenyluracil.

The present invention relates to hydrates of 2-chloro-5-[3,6-dihydro-3-methyl-2,6-dioxo-4-(trifluoromethyl)-1-(2H)pyrimidinyl]-4-fluoro-N-[[methyl(1-methylethyl)amino]-sulfonyl]benzamide. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of these hydrates and to plant protection formulations which comprise hydrates of the phenyluracil I.

Hydrates of 2-chloro-5-[3,6-dihydro-3-methyl-2,6-dioxo-4-(trifluoromethyl)-1-(2H)-pyrimidinyl]-4-fluoro-N-[[methyl(1-methylethyl)amino]sulfonyl]benzamide

1-Oxo-2-phenyl-2-(2-alkylaminoethyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalenes of the formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are identical or different and are each hydrogen, halogen, trifluoromethyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, R.sup.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl and R.sup.4 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl or benzyl, or R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 together may furthermore be a C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 -alkylene chain, and their salts with physiologically tolerated acids, and their preparation, are described. The novel compounds are useful active compounds for treating disorders.

Phenylacetonitriles carrying basic substituents, of the formula ##STR1## where D, E, F, G, H, I and K have the meanings given in the description, are prepared by reacting the corresponding phenylacetonitrile with a compound of the formula ##STR2## where X, H, I and K have the meanings given in the description, in a solid/liquid phase system in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst.
