Water-soluble copolymers and terpolymers as stabilizers for aqueous building material systems and water-based paint and coating systems are described. Advantages of the copolymers and terpolymers used according to the invention compared to conventional products are firstly the very good stabilizing properties of the building material systems or water-based paint and coating systems produced correspondingly and secondly the fact that the viscosity of the systems is barely increased, so that these have excellent processability.

The use of block copolymers which were prepared by polymerization of a poly(alkylene oxide) compound (A) with at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer compound (B), as dispersants for aqueous suspensions of solids, in particular based on hydraulic binders, such as, for example, cement, lime, gypsum or anhydrite, is described. Surprisingly, these block copolymers have a substantially better water-reducing power at the same dose in comparison with conventional superplasticizers based on comb polymers. Moreover, the slump loss can also be reduced in comparison with conventional superplasticizers by modification of the adhesive block.

Use of block copolymers as dispersants for aqueous suspensions of solids

The invention relates to water-soluble or water-swellable copolymers which contain sulfo groups and which are based on (meth)acrylamide-alkylsulfonic acids and (meth)acrylamide or N-vinyl compounds, and to their use as additives for aqueous construction materials systems or for water-based paint and coating systems. The inventive copolymers also represent water retention agents which are highly effective, even when used in relatively small quantities, and which are highly compatible in construction material and paint systems of this type.

Water-soluble or water-swellable, associatively thickening copolymers containing sulfo groups, method for producing the same and use thereof

The invention concerns the use of water-soluble polysaccharide derivatives as dispersing agents for mineral binder suspensions. A partially hydrolyzed cellulose containing carboxyl groups and optionally hydroxyalkyl and/or sulfate groups and/or a partially hydrolyzed amylose-rich starch which also has sulfoalkyl groups with 1 to 4 carbon atoms is used as the polysaccharide derivative. These polysaccharide derivatives have a low viscosity and an excellent plasticizing effect in mineral binder suspensions, especially in those based on cement, lime and/or gypsum.

A method for producing self-emulsifiable, aqueous polyurethane resins by a) preparing a premix of polyol component including a least one diol having a molar mass of 500 to 5,000 Dalton, at least one polyhydroxyalkane at least one anionically modifiable dihydroxyalkane-carboxylic acid and 0 to 9 parts by weight of a solvent component in desired ratios; b) reacting a polyisocyanate component the premix from stage a) to give a polyurethane preadduct, c) reacting the polyurethane preadduct from stage b) with either the premix from stage a) or with an anionically modifiable dihydroxyalkanecarboxylic acid to give a polyurethane prepolymer; d) mixing the polyurethane prepolymer from stage c) with a prepared mixture of water, a neutralizing component and an antifoam component; and thereafter or simultaneously reacting the aqueous polyurethane prepolymer from stage d) with a chain-extending component which is diluted with water.

Copolymers based on unsaturated monocarboxylic or dicarboxylic acid derivatives, oxyalkylene glycol alkenyl ethers, vinylic polyalkylene glycol, polysiloxane or ester compounds and the use thereof as additives for aqueous suspensions based on mineral or bituminous binders are described. The copolymers give aqueous suspensions of building materials excellent processing properties even in very small amounts, without delaying strength developments. In addition, when the copolymers of the invention are used, a drastic decrease in the water/binder ratio still leads to highly fluid building materials without segregation of individual constituents from the building material mixture occurring.

Stabilized, water-soluble polymer powders based on polyoxyalkylene glycol carboxylates are described, wherein the powders comprise from 0.01 to 10% by weight of a stabilizer selected from the group consisting of phenols, amines, phosphites, thioethers, and also thioacids, and where the stabilizer was added in liquid or dissolved form to the aqueous polymer solution prior to its conversion into the powder form. The polymer powders thus protected against autoignition and oxidative degradation have unexpectedly high thermooxidative stability, even on exposure to high temperatures and oxidizing action (air, oxygen).

In the proposed condensation product based on amino-s-triazines with at least two amino groups, formaldehyde and sulphite, the molar ratio of amino-s-triazine, formaldehyde and sulphite is 1:2.5-6.0:1.51-2.0 and the formiate content is less than 0.3 wt %. The condensation product is obtained by a) heating amino-s-triazine, formaldehyde and a sulphite in the molar ratio 1:2.5-6.0:1.51-2.0 in an aqueous solution at a temperature of 60-90&deg; C. and a pH level of between 9.0 and 13.0 until the sulphite can no longer be detected; b) continuing the condensation at a pH level of between 3.0 and 6.5 and a temperature of 60-80&deg; C. until the condensation product has a viscosity of 5-50 mm/s at 80&deg; C.; and c) adjusting the pH level of the condensation product to 7.5-12.0 or carrying out thermal secondary treatment at a pH level of >10.0 and a temperature of 60-100&deg; C. The product can be used as an additive for inorganic binders such as cement.
