Optoelectronic transmission and/or reception arrangements having a surface-mounted optoelectronic component and a circuit board provided with electrical lines, the optoelectronic component being surface-mounted on said circuit board, the optical axis of the optoelectronic component running perpendicular to the plane of the circuit board. In one embodiment, provision is made of a holding apparatus for receiving and orienting an optical waveguide to be coupled to the optoelectronic component, which holding apparatus directly adjoins the side of the optoelectronic component that is remote from the circuit board. In another embodiment, the circuit board has a cutout and light is coupled into or out of the optoelectronic component in the direction of the cutout of the circuit board.

Optoelectronic transmission and/or reception arrangements

An optical bidirectional transceiver module includes a module body having an opening, an inner hollow space and a fiber pin pushed through the opening into the inner hollow space. The fiber pin has a centric bored hole in which a light-conducting fiber is guided. A wavelength-selective filter or a beam splitter is located at a beveled end surface of the fiber pin. Radiation from an externally coupled light waveguide is emitted through the light-conducting fiber and reflected at the filter to a first optoelectronic component (transmitter). Received light radiation passes through the filter and impinges on a second optoelectronic component (receiver).

In a fiber-optic transmitting component, either an adjusting sleeve ( ) or a fiber flange is provided with a polarization filter ( ) and an adjustment step is performed in which the adjusting sleeve ( ) or the fiber flange is connected to the housing ( ) of a light-emitting device ( ). An axial angular position of the adjusting sleeve ( ) or of the fiber flange in relation to the housing ( ) is determined during a measurement of the light output from the light-emitting device ( ) that has passed through the polarization filter ( ), and the adjusting sleeve ( ) or the fiber flange is then fixed to the housing at this relative angular position.

Fiber-optic transmitting component with precisely settable input coupling

A coupling configuration for connecting an optical fiber provided with a coupling end face at one end to an optoelectronic element is described. A coupling element is disposed between the end of the optical fiber and the optoelectronic element in order to reduce back-reflections. The coupling element, which is made of an optically transmissive material, is in physical contact with the coupling end face of the optical fiber, and its side facing the optoelectronic element has a surface region which reduces back-reflections. To simplify and shorten the coupling housing, the coupling element is of lens-like configuration, for example in the form of a ball, and is held directly in the coupling housing.

A transmission and reception module for a bidirectional optical communication and signal transmission includes a light transmitter having a first lens coupling optical element, and a light receiver. A fiber connection has a second lens coupling optical element for a common optical waveguide. A beam splitter is disposed in a free beam path. A common housing surrounds the foregoing. The light transmitter, the beam splitter and the fiber connection as well as the light receiver which is orthogonal thereto, are disposed axially symmetrically. An optical axis of the first lens coupling optical element is axially offset from an optical axis of the light transmitter, an optical axis of the second lens coupling optical element is axially offset from the optical axis of the fiber connection, the end surface of the fiber connection, given optimal coupling-in of light, has an angle of inclination relative to its optical axis, and the beam splitter is inclined relative to an axis of symmetry of the configuration, such that backreflected radiation strikes neither a radiation-active part of the light transmitter nor a radiation-sensitive part of the light receiver.

Within a common housing are mounted an autonomous light transmitter having its own transmitter optical coupling element, an autonomous light receiver, a part for connecting a common optical fiber to the common housing, and a beam splitter arranged in the beam path within the common housing. The autonomous light transmitter and the autonomous light receiver are each within their own hermetically sealed encapsulations and it is these hermetically sealed autonomous components which are mounted within the common housing.
