A support apparatus for supporting and positioning a patient during a medical examination includes a patient support plate and a combination of elements for lifting and pivoting the support plate which operate to pivot the support plate around a stationary, virtual (i.e., non-load bearing) axis disposed at an end region of the support plate.

An X-ray examination installation has two image pick-up units, and avoids the necessity of having a ceiling mount. The two image pick-up units are mounted on a common pedestal, pivotable around a common horizontal axis. The carrier for one of the image pick-up units is directly connected to the pedestal, and the carrier for the other of the pick-up units is connected to the pedestal via an intermediate carrier. Both image pick up units are adjustable in two planes by this installation.

The apparatus for non-contacting disintegration of concretions situated in a life form includes a patient bed, a shock wave generator secured on a carriage below the surface of the bed with an arrangement for coupling energy from the shock wave generator positioned between the generator and the bed; an X-ray unit being mounted for pivotable movement on a longitudinal axis and used for positioning the patient with the isocenter of the region to be treated to lie on the longitudinal axis at a space above the surface of the bed and the carriage for the shock wave generator moving the focal point of the shock wave generator along said longitudinal axis from a working position with the energy focused on the isocenter to a remote position. The arrangement for mounting the X-ray unit includes a C-shaped carrier, which will pivot around the longitudinal axis and positions the X-ray radiator or emitter on an opposite side from the radiation receiver. In addition, the apparatus will pivot the shock wave generator around the same longitudinal axis and the C-shaped carrier is preferably pivotable around a second axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

Apparatus for non-contacting disintegration of concretions

An x-ray examination installation permits a transillumination image, or an x-ray exposure of an examination subject to be optionally undertaken. The installation includes a C-bend adjustable in position relative to an examination subject, with an x-radiator and a x-ray image intensifier being respectively melted at opposite free ends of the C-bend. The x-ray image intensifier is used for transillumination of the subject, and an exposure device such a sheet film changer, is positionable opposite the x-ray source for producing an exposure. The exposure device is held spatially freely adjustable relative to the C-bend by a carrying device. The exposure device is connectable to the C-bend with a releasable coupling mechanism so that the exposure device follows movements of the C-bend without changing its position relative to the x-radiator.

The invention relates to an x-ray apparatus comprising an apparatus base, a tiltable part, a displaceable carriage for x-ray parts running on the tiltable part along guide rails and having a spring weight compensation device having compensating forces adjustable by motor drive depending on the apparatus position, whereby at least one slot-shaped opening is provided on the carriage, one end of a one-armed load lever hinged to the tiltable part being displaceable in the slot-shaped opening. Between its ends, the load lever is pivotably connected to a sleeve seated in gliding fashion on a rod, the sleeve being supported with a spring at the one end of the rod whose other end is hinged to a nut displaceable by means of a motor-actuatable spindle, whereby the threaded spindle is arranged essentially parallel to the guide rails.

At its outside, the table frame or support is provided with two symmetrical, circular drive paths into each of which a drive wheel engages. Two respective guide rails are arranged at the table frame or support at both sides thereof, two respective, stationary guide pegs engaging into these guide rails in the horizontal position, said guide rails being fashioned and directed or, respectively, curved such that, given adjustment of the tilting table out of the horizontal position, respectively two guide pegs leave their guide rail and the lower end of the table frame or support is lifted to such a degree that it lies above the floor level. The curvature of at least one pair of guide rails at both sides of the table frame or support is selected such that the tilting speed is roughly uniform.

The invention relates to an apparatus for the contactless fragmentation of a concrement present in the body of a living being. A shock wave generator is aimed at a target region in the body and includes a coil having the form of a spherical segment. In front of the coil is arranged a mating radiator element, which closes off a liquid filled space and generates therein a shock wave focused on the centers of curvature of the coil and element upon brief connection of the coil to a high voltage. The concrement to be fragmented is positioned to lie at these centers of curvature.

A primary-beam collimator for a stereo radiographic x-ray diagnostic installation has an x-ray tube with dual focal points (F1, F2) arranged at a distance from each other. Shutter leaves (1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b) are provided, and adjustable so that two beam pyramids (I from focal point F1, and II from focal point F2) can be individually controlled. Two internal shutter leaves (4a, 4b) are provided for restricting the beam in planes perpendicular to the stereo base F1-F2. These are adjustable between two external shutter leaves--each in the direction of its corresponding external shutter leaf. The internal shutter leaves (4a, 4b) are constructed so that, when adjusted to their external positions, they permit the emission of a central beam-pyramid from a central focal point (FN) and, together with the external shutter leaves (2a, 2b), they close the external shutter openings.

An X-ray examination table having a height-adjustable trestle on which a patient support platform is mounted, characterized by the trestle having a liftable member on which the table is mounted being connected to a base by a double-jointed support arrangement and being movable to the base by a lifting arrangement. The double-jointed support arrangement includes a pair of brackets pivotally connected together and having one of the pair being pivotally connected to the liftable member and the other being pivotally connected to the base. The pivotal connections are shafts which extend parallel to each other for each linkage arrangement and perpendicular to the shafts of the adjacent linkage arrangement so that the double-jointed supports guide the liftable member as it is moved between the upper and lowermost positions.

An x-ray examination table having a trestle on which a patient support platform is height-adjustably mounted, characterized by the trestle having a liftable member on which the table is mounted being connected to a base by a double-jointed support arrangement and being movable to the base by a lifting arrangement. The double-jointed support arrangement includes a pair of brackets pivotally connected together and having one of the pair being pivotally connected to the liftable member and the other being pivotally connected to the base. The pivotal connections are shafts which extend parallel to each other for each linkage arrangement and perpendicular to the shafts of the adjacent linkage arrangement so that the double-jointed supports guide the liftable member as it is moved between the upper and lowermost positions.

An improved x-ray diagnostic apparatus having a table mounted on a table support and being tiltable on a support base to positions on each side from a horizontal position with one of the side positions being through 90.degree. characterized by a drive arrangement including a curved drive track on the table support engaged by drive wheels mounted on the support base and a guide arrangement including two spaced guide rails on the table support receiving guide pins or members of the support base when the table is in the horizontal position. When the table moves from the horizontal position, the guide rail of the upper end of the table disengages from its respective guide pin so that the guide rail at the lower end coacting with its guide pin and the support provided by the drive arrangement coact to maintain the lower end above the floor level. Preferably, the drive arrangement also includes a support arrangement having a curved support track engaging a support roller so that only tangential forces are applied between the drive wheel and drive track.

A radiographic installation for an x-ray examination apparatus has two antiscatter grids disposed in different planes at different distances from the focus of the radiation source and are alternately movable by a motor connected thereto through a drive train from a standby position outside of the radiation field into a position within the radiation field. The grids are maintained in the standby position by a permanently-acting bias force and are moved into the radiation field by the motor in opposition to this force. The drive train includes a belt having two cams disposed at the opposite ends thereof respectively associated with the antiscatter grids for limiting the movement thereof to define selected positions for the grids.

In an exemplary embodiment at least one pair of oppositely adjustable clamping jaws are to be controlled. In the case of some examinations the cassette holder is not to be greater than the smallest x-ray film cassette to be clamped by it in order to avoid obstructions in the application of the clamped x-ray film cassette to the patient (e.g. axilla region or neck region). To this end, the disclosure provides that an adjustment handle, displaceable on the housing of the cassette holder, is coupled with a slide which is displaceable in the housing and connected with a clamping jaw, and that the latter slide is coupled with the one end of a two-arm lever whose other end is connected with a clamping jaw. Such a cassette holder is particularly suited for use in the case of x-ray examination apparatus.

The supply magazine and the collector magazine are arranged on opposite sides of the camera exposure station, with a transport conveying one film sheet in each instance via a removal slot of the supply magazine. The transport is coupled with a slide which is movable parallel to the film plane between the supply magazine and the camera exposure station. There is coupled to the slide a tang which conveys the film sheet disposed in the exposure station into the collector magazine. The illustrated sheet film camera is adapted to use in medical examination apparatus, and particularly for rapid sequence recording of images displayed on a fluorescent screen.

In the illustrated embodiment, a single counterweight suspended on a traction cable compensates a plurality of differently moving apparatus parts and is of significantly lesser weight than corresponds to the sum of weights of the compensated apparatus parts. The cable is shown as coupled with the sighting device beneath the patient's support as well as with the carrier column for the X-ray tube while yet being operable to simultaneously compensate the torque of the carrier column in different orientations of the patient support, including a vertical disposition.
