A vehicle computer includes a memory and a processor. The processor is programmed to execute instructions stored in the memory. The instructions include determining a vehicle speed, selecting at least one actuator to vibrate a sensor housing based on the vehicle speed, and commanding the at least one actuator to vibrate the sensor housing in accordance with the vehicle speed to remove debris from the sensor housing.

Lidar windscreen vibration control

A system includes an optical fiber embedded in a windshield. The system includes a reflector embedded in the windshield and oriented to reflect light to a first end of the optical fiber. The system includes a sensor oriented to receive light from a second end of the optical fiber.

Vehicle sensor

A system for detecting noise generated by a windshield wiper on a vehicle including a cabin is provided. The system includes a detector for detecting noise generated by the windshield wiper. A processor is provided for generating a signal based on the noise detected by the detector. A controller may also receive the signal and regulate the operation of the windshield wiper, including by adaptive control based on a vehicle operator's desired setting of a speed of the wiper in an intermittent mode of operation. The signal may also be used to notify a service provider of the need for servicing the windshield wiper. Related methods are also disclosed.

System for detecting windshield wiper noise and related methods

A computing device determines that a first time for a first sound generated by a vehicle to reach a first sound maximum amplitude and a second time for a second sound generated by the vehicle to reach a second sound maximum amplitude are within a range. An object that reflects the second sound is identified based on an interval between receipt of the first and second sounds. A speed of sound is determined based at least in part on the time interval and a distance to the object. A humidity is determined based at least in part on the speed of sound. A vehicle subsystem is adjusted based on the humidity.
