A device for processing a material web () that includes means () for conveying the material web in a longitudinal direction (L), wherein both an applied, in particular repeated printed image () and a control line () extending in the longitudinal direction are configured on the material web (). The control line () has a defined position transverse to the material web (), and the control line () is scanned by means of a sensor () in a material web () processing step. The control line () has a digital code structure in its longitudinal direction (L) that encodes a data set of at least four bits, in particular at least two bytes, of information content.

Device and method for processing a material web

An apparatus () serves for linear illumination of a moving product web (), the apparatus () having at least one light source () emitting light. In order to achieve high luminance in a linear subregion of the product web (), at least a portion of the light emitted by the light source () is reflected towards the product web () by at least one tubular reflector (). The tubular reflector () in this case has at least one light exit slit () which is assigned to the product web (). Moreover, the tubular reflector has at least one observation slit () which lies opposite the light exit slit (). The illuminated product web () can be observed through this observation slit () by means of a line camera ().
